March 8's Elie al-Maalouf Elected Head of Lebanese Dental Association

Elie Azar al-Maalouf, the candidate backed by the March 8 forces, was elected on Sunday as the new head of the Lebanese Dental Association, state-run National News Agency reported.

Maalouf ran against the March 14-backed candidate George Tahini.

“The Free Patriotic Movement and its allies won 4 out of 6 seats in the elections of the Lebanese Dental Association,” FPM's mouthpiece OTV reported.

NNA identified the winners as March 8's Fadi Abi al-Lamaa, Daniel Kahaleh and Atef Nohra and March 14's George Tahini and Fadel Khaled. It did not mention the affiliation of the triumphant member Abdul Qader al-Bssat.

“The elections were held without incident in a calm and democratic atmosphere amid a heavy deployment by the army and the Internal Security Forces,” NNA said.

On November 18, the March 14 forces achieved victory in the Pharmacists Order elections and won two seats in the by-election of the Beirut Bar Association.

And on November 11, the March 14-backed list won the by-election of the Tripoli Bar Association which was held to fill two vacant posts.
