Berri Undergoes 'Stone Removal' Surgery at AUBMC
Speaker Nabih Berri on Friday underwent a “successful surgery” at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Hamra.
“Speaker Berri has been admitted to the American University of Beirut Medical Center and (ex-health minister) Dr. Mohammed Jawad Khalife is conducting an urgent surgery on him," al-Jadeed television reported.
But NBN television, the mouthpiece of Berri's AMAL Movement, said the parliament speaker underwent "a successful, minor surgery this morning and he will leave hospital tomorrow morning."
MTV said Berri underwent a successful surgery to remove "stones" from his body.
Al-Manar quoted Dr. Khalife as saying that the speaker "underwent a minor surgery and he is in good health and will leave hospital within hours."
Later on Friday, Berri's press office issued a statement confirming that he was admitted to hospital for a "minor surgery that ended successfully and will leave hospital tomorrow morning."
