U.S. Generals Discuss Military Cooperation with Qahwaji

Two U.S. military generals held talks with Army chief Gen. Jean Qahwaji during a visit to Beirut, the U.S. Embassy announced on Sunday.

Maj. Gen. William D. Beydler, Director of Strategy, Plans, and Policy for U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and Brig. Gen. Guy T. Cosentino, who is the Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs (Middle East) for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also met with other senior military officers to discuss bilateral cooperation, said the statement.

Beydler and Cosentino "emphasized the strong and sustained military cooperation between the two countries,” it said.

As part of this cooperation and to strengthen the Lebanese Armed Force’s capacity, they noted the over $140 million in equipment delivered to the LAF since June 2012.

The equipment includes aircraft, a naval vessel, armored and unarmored vehicles, guns, ammunition and medical supplies, the statement added.
