Al-Rahi to Rome Sunday: Talks to Focus on Cabinet Formation, Developments in Syria
Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi is scheduled to travel to Rome on Sunday to take part in church activity and a synod held at the Vatican under Pope Benedict XVI.
The Patriarch is expected to meet the Pope to discuss various church issues, as well as the latest developments in Lebanon and Syria.
The two sides are likely to address the formation of a Lebanese government and the anti-regime demonstrations in Syria.
Al-Rahi is expected to return to Lebanon on June 26.
He will head to France in September at an invitation from French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
