Israel Increases Surveillance near Maroun al-Ras

An Israeli bulldozer fortified on Monday an Israeli surveillance position adjacent to the southern town of Maroun al-Ras where a monument for Palestinians killed on May 15 was erected, reported the National News Agency.

The Israeli activity was accompanied by overflights by its fighter jets over the regions of Marjeyoun and Nabatieh.

The Jewish state frequently fortifies its positions along its border with Lebanon most notably recently on the commemoration of the Nakba and Naksa Days.

Clashes broke out at Maroun al-Ras on May 15 between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian demonstrators, commemorating the day of the Nakba, as they sought to cross the border fence with Israel in an effort to return to their homeland.
