لا يزال الطريق امام مكب الناعمة مقفلا رغم اتفاق بين رئيس الحكومة المكلف تمام سلام ووفد من أهالي البلدة والقرى المحيطة بفتح الطريق لمدة 48 ساعة، بعد احتجاج دام قرابة الثلاثة أيام، منعوا خلاله عمال شركة "سوكلين" من طمر النفايات في مكبها لاسباب بئية وصحية، ما ادى الى تحول مناطق بيروت الى تلال نفايات.
ولقد التقى رئيس الحكومة المكلف تمام سلام وفدا مشتركا من اتحاد بلديات الغرب الأعلى والشحار وعدد من البلديات المتضررة من مطمر الناعمة والحركة البيئية اللبنانية وناشطين بيئيين، الذين قدموا له شرحا وافيا لما يعانونه من آثار صحية لمطمرالناعمة، طارحين جملة اقتراحات.
وطلب من سلام لحظ مشكلة المطمر وهذه المطالب في البيان الوزاري للحكومة العتيدة.
وعليه، تم الاتفاق على افساح المجال أمام سلام لإيجاد حل جذري لإقفال مطمر الناعمة من خلال المسؤولين والوزارات المعنية، وفتح الطريق لمدة 48 ساعة أمام شاحنات سوكلين على أن تبقى الخيم قائمة أمام مدخل المطمر.
ولقد أكد سلام أمام الوفد أنه "سيعمد فور تسلمه السلطة التنفيذية إلى إنشاء هيئة طوارىء لمعالجة الموضوع بأسرع ما يمكن".
ولاحقا، أفادت الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام أن الاعتصام يستمر مفتوحا امام مدخل مطمر النفايات، إذ أكد المعتصمون بحسب الوكالة أن "الطريق ما زالت مقفلة امام الشاحنات التي تنقل النفايات الى المطمر"، عكس ما تردد في بعض وسائل الاعلام مساء.
وأعلن المعتصمون ان "الاعتصام سيستمر حتى ايجاد حل لهذه المشكلة البيئية الخطيرة والمميتة في المنطقة".
وكانت شركة "سوكلين" أوضحت في بيان صادر عنها أمس السبت، ان "مجلس الإنماء والإعمار، والجهات المختصة تبحث في حلول بديلة للمشكلة القائمة"، لافتة الى ان "تأمين المكان المخصص للطمر هو من مسؤولية الدولة اللبنانية".
وقالت أنها "ليست الجهة المخولة تحديد مكان الطمر".

Why is no one discussing the reasons the residents closed the landfill?
Is it "political" now to discuss the environmental damage caused by irresponsible waste management? Is it "political" to discuss the corruption in Sukleen?
If reports of leachate entering the subterranean water systems in Naameh are true, this landfill is highly dangerous to the whole region.
Is it also "political" to discuss how a private company has so much control over an integral part of our infrastructure (waste collection)? Even if you advocate for privatisation, at the very least you need a government regulatory body to insure that the company does not abuse its position as a natural monopoly.

$ 40 billion siphoned in the past 25 years and not even a proper waste management plant, just a dump. I hope all our politicians end up in it!

I didn't thumb you down but I certainly hope you are not insinuating that Hariri stole 50B dollars when his personal wealth at the time of his death was less than 20B (several of those B made/provided in KSA). Yes, he stole some billions with the whole Solidere thing, but then again that provided us with the robust economic area of downtown Beirut which is the envy of the Arab world.
Most of the money was stolen by Syria, by the very same regime that M8'ers such as FT are defending.
