حزب الله يؤكد استهداف غارة اسرائيلية لأحد مواقعه و"لن تبقى بلا رد"

Read this story in English W460

“The assault will not pass without a retaliation by the resistance,” vowed the party."

sure... we ll be waiting a long time as you cannot retaliate without the risk of opening two fronts which would be suicidal... LOL

once again they are acting on their own without asking what lebanese think about it as if they were the gvt... with the full support of their antilebanese M8 friends prefering to follow a militia rather than the state institutions.....

Missing un520 12:31 ,2014 شباط 26

There were casualties indeed. Good for Hizbollah that they can claim that the bodies at the Dar al-Hikma hospital are from the glorious war with the sunni in Syria rather than the humiliating victims of an Israeli air raid.

So once again we Lebanese will have to live under the specter of more people dying, and why? because our dear Hezbollah seems to forget, or rather ignore that it is not alone in living in Lebanon. So as its statement says, it will retaliate against Israel, then what? Israel will retaliate in the name of its much vaunted and cherished, "Self defense against terrorism", then what? Unsuspecting Lebanese citizens from all sects and walks of life will get caught up in another round of brutalities, their life will get screwed up again, plans destroyed, loved ones lost, properties destroyed and all for what? Because a man who lives in hiding and his militia feel they are above every consideration.

Once upon a time, there was a noble resistance, now upon this time, we have a terror organization. Things look set for a very hot Summer, so no tourism, no vacations, just another very hot Summer for Lebanon, thank you ya Hezbollah for becoming now the nightmare that refuses to go, but go you will, if not now, tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the day after, but you will go, since this is how now you are behaving.

Thumb ex-fpm 13:15 ,2014 شباط 26

Geagea was spot on when he said nothing will change regarding HA behavior. This is a terror organization that implements a foreign agenda without due regard to national or lebanese interests. Does nasrallah think he and his sect alone live in Lebanon? HA is a curse upon humanity

Thumb thrust 13:33 ,2014 شباط 26

Any other political party, or the biggest lebanese party (the silent people), would not understand HA fully unless they read between the lines. It is not rocket science to understand that the HA speeches and declarations are NOT intended to any country, as much as they are intended to THE LEBANESE. When a person or a country attacks another, would you think the second person/country responds to the agression as," I will hit you back in the appropriate time ???"
It is and was always a message to brainstorm followers and terrorize the opponents in Lebanon. This is a message to everybody that the only power is in their hands, and for the weak to follow them. They still underestimate the lust of the silent majority for progress, education and freedom where religion has no place.

Thumb smarty 13:57 ,2014 شباط 26

religion/faith will always have a place, but not in the streets... rather at home.

Thumb thrust 15:05 ,2014 شباط 26

The relation between religion and politics is directly proportional to the relation between faith and money.
Does your faith teach you economia ?
So let's leave it at home then.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 13:37 ,2014 شباط 26

the drop in tourism and the economy as a whole was way before the Syrian crisis.. i think it was about the same time as Hariri's govt was toppled and a pure m8 govt was formed... you can check the numbers if you like, i have posted them before.. from the cost of living to the investments coming in.. to the general state of the economy, and everything in between...

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 14:55 ,2014 شباط 26

hariri govt toppled on January 2011.
syrian uprising (peaceful) began march 2011
Armed resistance began on/between august and october 2011
Major fighting and the rapid influx of refugees began between March and June 2012.
all that info just in case you say the refugees showed up in march 2011.
some links for you:
http://www.indexmundi.com/facts/lebanon/foreign-direct-investment
http://www.tradingeconomics.com/lebanon/gdp-growth-annual
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Lebanon ( please note gdp growth rate)

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 14:55 ,2014 شباط 26

in the end, the syrian refugees cannot affect the gdp numbers.. you can reference any other country that has syrian refugees and let me know if there is as significant a drop (if any) as ours.
the drop has nothing to do with the syrian refugees, and did begin with the toppling of the Hariri govt, with the gulfs refusal to do "business" with HA... lack of tourists is what brought down our gdp growth rate... lack of tourist spend is what brought down our gdp growth rate.. not a bunch of syrians living in tin houses.

Thumb -phoenix1 16:25 ,2014 شباط 26

FT, the hospitality sector forms a major part of our economy, hit it, and you cripple the economy. Lebanon has a lot to offer the world, tourism is not only about prestigious hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and discos, they are all fine, but there's a lot more to offer, but in a nutshell, in Lebanon we haven't yet exploited our potential, but for that to happen, stability is a prerequisite.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 20:36 ,2014 شباط 26

Roar. Half of Lebanon's tourism flows through Syria? Can you share a link with that info?
Syria's war had nothing to do with the drop of tourism. The gulfs travel warnings, many of them, have nothing to do with the Syrian war but the situation in the country.
And yes the times roughly coincide but the influx of refugees did not begin in earnest until a year into it.
Again I ask you to show me GDP growth rates that were affected by that magnitude (if any) by the influx of Syrian refugees. Jordan? Turkey? Iraq? And to a lesser extent Egypt?

Thumb -phoenix1 13:53 ,2014 شباط 26

Ya Roar, the ones that screwed up tourism, you know them habibi. It's not me, nor anyone responsible citizen, but M8 and M8 led by Hezbollah. In 2006, my company had spent serious money to prepare for what was to be a bumper season, then what happened, eh, speak!! Then when Hezbollah occupies Downtown, what happened after? About those refugees, who has emasculated the state, me? I told you, your sitting down under will not help in your focus, come here and see for yourself. As recent as today, the Lebanese State has seen its will castrated by the Policy declaration and why? because the will of Hezbollah and M8 has dictated so, courtesy of Mr. Berri, ma heyk? Tell me, what is so shameful to bring such matters to light, eh you tell me? Or is it that you still live with the feeling that Hezbollah and the M8 alliance that it leads are all UNTOUCHABLES?! The time has now come for accountability, and it will get worse for them too, stay online brother and better get used to it.

Thumb -phoenix1 14:24 ,2014 شباط 26

Ok brother Roar, it's a good position from you, so whilst Arzak prepare his stats, why not you do the same?

Thumb -phoenix1 14:55 ,2014 شباط 26

Hi FT, thanks for responding. Sure, I do understand what you wrote about, but to be honest, I still feel that you have not put the finger on the wound. I am hungry and about to go out for a bite, but the things I mentioned were the main catalysts to the decline in tourism. Now if other factors contributed, sure, the possibility is there, masalan the terrible standoff between Hezbollah and the Turks, the kidnapping of their citizens here, Hezbollah's role in the Syrian war and the riposte from the Takfiris, the repeated closures of the airport road etc... Masalan, one of my projects was to promote cultural, eco and religious tourism that could have turned our villages into economically prosperous regions, what happened after all the incidents from 2006 onwards?

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 15:03 ,2014 شباط 26

FT.. lebanon has (ever since the end of our civil war) survived as a touristic hub for the gulf.. primarily.
When Hariri was toppled, HA and co were made to pay the price. it is really as simple as that...
the global rescission was at its peak between 2008 and beginning 2010.. all years that saw amazing growth in Lebanon..
we have ALWAYS had non existent political stability... so why the change now? why such a significant drop with political instability with an M8 govt and not an m14 govt?
Lebanon itself was unaffected by the recession, as we already live a notch above it. and the one and only reason we are witnessing such hard times is that the gulf is making HA pay.. missiles cant feed it's constituents .. and Iran is in no position to offer an alternative.

Thumb -phoenix1 16:18 ,2014 شباط 26

FT, thanks for the interest bro. No, in 2006 we didn't yet have the time to make an FB page, the whole project was still in the works, but basically the whole idea was to start something that the Greeks started then. These days, tourism is changing from the old type of beach, sun, clubs to things a lot more rewarding, so comes, cultural, eco and religious tourism. We could have promoted Lebanon as the right destination for tourists from the West and other parts of the world to come and stay with families in villages, these families had to dedicate one clean room in their homes and the guests will live with them just as the hosts do in their daily life. Souvenirs would be crafted traditionally, foods prepared for the tourists to take back with them, like Jams, Compote, Pickles, Wines, herbs, Zaatar, etc...

Thumb -phoenix1 16:20 ,2014 شباط 26

FT. Religious tourism would be for the Convents and Monasteries and Islamic institutions, where tourists will also stay and learn from our ways, finally Eco-Tourism, in the remote areas of Lebanon, where the air is pure, water is clean, we could make programs where tourist will come to plant with us trees that will bear their names. Each month we will send them reports of the trees they planted and sponsored. Again, our visitors will live in the great outdoors, Kayaking, camping, man, Lebanon is rich, so rich that we still don't know that we are sitting atop a gold mine, if only we had the right approach.

Thumb eli-g 13:58 ,2014 شباط 26

@ The-roar what does this article have to do with Lebanese women and make-up? you lost me there.

Thumb -phoenix1 14:30 ,2014 شباط 26

I don't know if I am asking too much, but then this is it: I am asking of Hezbollah and of Israel, that next time they want to engage in another round of fighting, call it war if you wish, that both of you announce it over the media. Just be kind enough to tell us the exact time when you are about to start with the hostilities, so that I can make contingencies, after all, I am a family man, like most Lebanese. Thank you, signed, a Lebanese Citizen.

Thumb ex-fpm 14:53 ,2014 شباط 26

The sad part is the next war will be a total war of destruction against Lebanon unlike the 2006 war. No area will be safe, no building will be safe, and the Lebanese army will take the brunt of it as well while HA will hide among civilians.

Thumb beiruti 15:11 ,2014 شباط 26

Timing is everything. Just as it appeared that a consensus in Lebanon was gelling to do away with the ridiculous government formula of "the people-the army-the resistance" and Hezbollah was in no position, given its military deployment in Syria to resist, that Israel again rides in to rescue Hezbollah.
Israel conducted its raid on Lebanese territory right in the middle of these very delicate negotiations over the policy statement by the new government when Hezbollah needed the most help.

Thumb beiruti 15:12 ,2014 شباط 26

It is further evidence, as we have seen over the years and decades that Israel needs Hezbollah and Hezbollah needs Israel. When the threat of Hezbollah in Lebanon seems to wane, Israel always does something for Hezbollah to point to as justification for its continued existence.
Hezbollah and Israel are one in the same and Lebanon is the victim of them both.

Thumb -phoenix1 16:44 ,2014 شباط 26

I have finally come to this sad conclusion Beiruti, that a friend in need is a friend indeed. I always suspected that Israel and Hezbollah have a lot more in common than we may know of, and the developments of recent, just like in the past simply confirm this. Thanks for your excellent posts, always good to read them.

cityboy: concerning tourism, the lebanese authorities have bet on luxury to attract gulf people into Lebanon to make the maximum of money but never has the gvt encouraged a middle class tourism by focusing on the assets the countries has in terms of archeological monuments... all abandoned, nothing organized to attract people like in western countries...

then hezbollah and its wars have led everyone to flee this country... so yes hezbollah and the insecurity they created led to this situation....

so the main "tourists" from the gulf stopped coming and most of Lebanon is in red on all the embassies maps! thanks to hezbis!

Missing peace 18:06 ,2014 شباط 26

the main problem for Lebanon to thrive is hezbollah and you know it or refuse to see it... the main cause for insecurity is hezbollah: how come you attract people and investors who will prefer to settle elsewhere...

as for tourism only the ministers can change things: but they are all inefficient and useless...

It has demanded to be in the government; it has protested that the government needs to be respected and so forth, yet, when an event like this happens, Hezbollah arrogates to itself the unilateral decision on retaliation against Israel, that we all know will draw an Israeli retaliation on Lebanon.
And where will Hezbollah be when Israel comes to extract its pound of flesh? In Syria. Who will pay the consequences of Hezbollah's unilateral actions? The Lebanese.
This type of thing must come to an end.
