On a lighter note: Please see this special tribute to Bashar:

insults are you bunch got left? that's pretty weak and lame

Thumb Machia 12:05 ,2014 حزيران 10

No insults here. Just a special tribute from the band that Bashar downloaded from itunes.
They are an English pop band and are free to express their views.
Please feel free to write to them about Bashar's humanistic project, great achievements, democratic ideas and economic accomplishments. That must have skipped them.

Thumb _mowaten_ 14:20 ,2014 حزيران 10

in my book "***hole" is an insult.

Thumb _mowaten_ 14:25 ,2014 حزيران 10

as for bashar's achievement, i think ridding syria from tens of thousands of murderous bloodthirsty cannibals and terrorists is not bad.
but anyway, who cares if brits are happy and like him or not? i dont think he's trying to please the imperialists and post-colonial powers anyway, which is exactly why they hate him so much.

Thumb Machia 14:37 ,2014 حزيران 10

It is not to my knowledge that the pop band "Right Said Fred" are neo-colonial imperialists! I know that they are a one hit band: "I'm too sexy" which they changed to "Assad, he's an asshole" in the above video.
In this video they also compare him to a mouse and to Hitler ("[who] at least knew how to paint").

Thumb _mowaten_ 14:47 ,2014 حزيران 10

did you hear the presenter? serving out his stale anti-assad propaganda thinking he's being witty.. right in line with the imperialist agenda.
good for him that he found a couple of have-been of blockheads to sing along and entertain a bunch of ignorants

Thumb Machia 14:58 ,2014 حزيران 10

The imperialist neo-colonial propagandist spy chanel MTV (Music Television) put it this way:
"There’s no way to sugarcoat it: Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is a brutal dictator who recently won reelection in what can only be described as a rigged vote and who has overseen a deadly three-year crackdown on the popular uprising in his country that has killed 100,000 and displaced millions.
“Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver feels powerless in the face of Assad’s iron-fisted rule, so he did the only thing he can reasonably hope to do to at least tweak the Syrian strongman during his Sunday night HBO show: he made fun of Assad’s terrible musical taste."

Thumb Machia 15:02 ,2014 حزيران 10

Btw Mowaten you shouldn't insult your champion Bashar's musical taste. He actually downloaded the song from neo-imperialist colonialist iTunes.

Thumb _mowaten_ 15:03 ,2014 حزيران 10

yea right, i bet they really did some important investigative works before reading out official propaganda lines word for word.

@Mowaten : "in my book "***hole" is an insult."

It's only an insult if it's untrue.

Any Lebanese who supports Bashar is himself an "***hole" and a traitor. It's even worst than supporting Israel given the crimes and horrors he has conducted in Lebanon !

Thumb _mowaten_ 21:24 ,2014 حزيران 10

lol machia, i see you're a big fan, knowing all the lyrics to all their songs
too bad you missed the point by a mile, there's not even any "defending" in the video i sent you, just a one way ticket, valid for all traitors, not just in syria :)

Machia- That is brilliant! Keep it up buddy!

Thumb Machia 14:09 ,2014 حزيران 10

The only retard here is Bashar's regime. Instead of opening up and win over the peaceful opponents, they decided to use violence.
The day he used lethal force, was the day Syria became the chosen battlefield of two extreme visions of Islam, mainly Al Qaeda vs Hezbollah and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It was the day Israel finally won the war, (all the other Arab Israeli conflicts were battles.)
Thus the only retard is the Assad regime.

Thumb Machia 14:45 ,2014 حزيران 10

Yes Sir Southern. Yes. Go ahead SAA and Hezbollah go fight! God die, mass-murder, assassinate, steal, rape, car bomb. Yeeeeeha!
Go kill and be killed by the takfiris and don't forget to maim and blow up a few thousand innocent civilians too!
Go destroy Syrian cities!
Yeeeeeha!

Thumb Machia 16:27 ,2014 حزيران 10

No Southern, I side with justice. Bashar had a chance to act in the interest of his country and he didn't. He could have easily averted this bloodbath. He chose to use extreme force against unarmed civilians, inviting the takfiris to invade and then Hezbollah to "defend".
He held on to his "presidency" and Israel won. What a beautiful likud dream to see Takfiris killing Khomeinists and Khomeinists killing Takfiris, a showcase to the world that Arabs are just a bunch of criminals.
He fell right into the trap, the way Saddam did.

Thumb Machia 16:35 ,2014 حزيران 10

Bashar and Hezbollah were tested in Lebanon, they killed Hariri and that was a huge strategic mistake on their part.
However, they played their cards right and did not order a blood bath and kill all the March 14 protesters.
Instead the Syrian army left Lebanon. Strategically, he won.
But, I don't know who were his advisors when ordered killing all those peaceful unarmed protesters, but they should be shot!
He managed to destroy his country and bring the "resistance" cause into disripute.
Remember Hezbollah was loved throughout the Muslim world before 2010. Today the Muslim world hates them more than Israel.
What a strategic failure for the "resistance" axis. What a strategic victory for Israel!

Thumb Machia 16:50 ,2014 حزيران 10

Correct I am an extremist when it comes to my love of Lebanon, to peace, democracy, freedom and liberalism.
I am an extremist when it comes to seeing a prosperous Lebanon where everyone can aspire for a better life without leaving the country.
I am an extremist when I see Bashar ordering the murder of innocent civilians, instead of stepping down.
I am an extremist when I see Lebanese supporting Takfiris or Khomeinists or Baathist dictators. Have we lost our minds. These guys destroyed our future. Do we want them to also destroy the future of the next generation of Syrians, Lebanese or Iranians?
Enough!

Thumb FlameCatcher 17:00 ,2014 حزيران 10

@Southern :

1- There is no difference between Al-Qaeda / Hezbollah / Bashar : they are all terrorists by pure dictionary definition.

2- Assad is a criminal in Lebanon. His regime has occupied Lebanon and done more harm to our country and citizens than Israel. You cannot even deny this !

3- Syrians have validated nothing. There is nothing clean and transparent about the elections. The biggest proof is that Assad offered "general amnesty". Who needs Amnesty when 88.7% of people vote for you ???

4- If the Syrians indeed voted for Bashar, why are they still in Lebanon ??? We did not see a mass exodus of Syrians going back to Syria when their beloved leaders won.

So wake up and have a good look around you, the world is not what you think it is !

Thumb zahle1 17:19 ,2014 حزيران 10

I hope the SAA does what they need to do on their side of the border. If they come here again we really need a resistance against Syrian occupation as well. That is where HA messed up, and I can never trust them 100% in Lebanon as a militia. They should have stayed here on our side of the border. If they wanted to do border patrol then that would have been ok. Now I feel like they would support the re-occupation of Lebanon by the Syrian regime and secret service. They are no longer purely an Israeli resistance. Its unfortunate that the Nusra/ISIL are such a threat on top of them. Its a mess.

Thumb Mystic 18:10 ,2014 حزيران 10

then why not let israel bomb South Lebanon if ever there are terrorists attacking them too? ...

double standards, bashar lover?

Thumb _mowaten_ 21:29 ,2014 حزيران 10

still wondering why? boy you're slow, must be the hundredth time:

1- israel is our enemy, not syria (yea, sadly you dont get to decide who lebanon is at war with)
2- israel bombed the whole country repeatedly, including civilians and civilian infrastructure, and destroyed entire cities to the ground, whereas syria is only targeting smugglers and fighters on the border.

got it? i doubt... pretty sure you'll come back with the same question tomorrow..

Missing peace 21:42 ,2014 حزيران 10

sure for those who praise bashar and thanked him for the theft of the country, the killing of hundreds of lebanese, rapes, torture, destruction of entire villages and so on... syria is not your enemy: it is your way of life...

but you conveniently resort to israel who is not the only enemy but another one just like your beloved syria is, traitor!

syria harmed Lebanon more than israel but ma3leh they are not enemies they did that out of brotherhood and love ma heyk proud collaborator?

so do not come here and lecture me about patriotism because yours is very very selective....

Thumb zahle1 22:03 ,2014 حزيران 10

Mowaten,

Israel bombed select parts of the country but in general I agree with your statement. However, you can say the same for Syria. A considerable portion of our population was targeted and bombed by them. You may not feel that your sect or area is the enemy of Syria, but considerable parts of lebanon have been targeted by the regime. This is the disconnect. Nobody is willing to admit that we have different enemies depending on the sect/geography.

Thumb _mowaten_ 10:36 ,2014 حزيران 11

no zahle it is not about "sects" or "areas", during the civil war all sides found themselves fighting syria at one point or another. and all found their interests with syria at one point or another.
even geagea had his honey moon with them, when he needed them to remove aoun from baabda. those were volatile times, and yet when you look at details you see syrian did not come in trying to destroy everything and kill everyone. for instance the much spoken of battles of zahle, and the 100 days in ashrafieh both together do not exceed 360 lebanese casualties. how can you compare that to the 20,000 dead and 30,000 wounded caused by israel in 1982 alone?!?

Thumb zahle1 15:24 ,2014 حزيران 11

mowaten, I am from Zahle, I was a kid during the battles of Zahle. And enemy is an enemy. Zahle was not in Beirut, we did not attack the Palestinian, we did not attack South Lebanon, we did not ask the Jews to come. Syria hated us for other reasons. 360 casualties is a joke. 360 casualties is a joke. The surrounded us for extended periods attempted to starve us. Sniper fire on civilians and children. Mortared civilian areas. 360 casualties ballout!!! If you look at the length of time Syria occupied Lebeanon and the number of political assassinations and kidnappings and those jailed. I would even question your 20k. I'm telling you there parts of Lebanon that the Syrian regime has hated and targeted. If you deny that it is the same as those in Bcharri denying how the South was ignored. Period!!!

Thumb _mowaten_ 17:29 ,2014 حزيران 11

i'm not saying it is a joke, even 1 innocent life is too much, and i understand it marked you personally because you were there as a child, but when talking about politics you have to look at the big picture. you cannot look at this major historical event that was the civil war only through a peephole.
the battle of zahle had strategic reasons (control over the beirut-damascus road), and it was nowhere near as as bloody as other battles during our civil war (200 dead). of course on a human level i feel with you, but you cannot paralyze all of lebanon's political relations with its only neighbor over that.

Thumb zahle1 22:25 ,2014 حزيران 11

Your casualties are way under reported just like the Jnoub casualties by Israeli hands are over reported. Do you think people in considerable proportions across the entire country have an issue with Syria of 360 lives? Or one battle. That battle is just an example, something specific, but there are about 1001 reasons why many Lebanese feel Syria is an enemy.

Thumb _mowaten_ 19:14 ,2014 حزيران 12

zahle those are the widely accepted figures. if you disagree kindly find sources that challenge those and i'll give them a read.

Thumb _mowaten_ 19:19 ,2014 حزيران 12

"Do you think people in considerable proportions across the entire country have an issue with Syria of 360 lives?"

that's exactly the point i was trying to make zahle, relatively small events are blown out of proportion and exploited by certain sides to throw oil on the fire.
certain leaders/powers have big grudges against syria for personal reasons, some want to demonize syria, others want to try to create a rift between lebanon and syria to weaken both and rule over us... so many sides have so many reasons to try to do this. but if you stick to fact you see that indeed syria wrong us, many times, but not to the point that they are our deadly enemy.

Thumb zahle1 14:26 ,2014 حزيران 13

I am not saying its only 360. I think if more people were reading this thread they would agree. Its much bigger. To say all that Syria has done since they came into Lebanon was kill 360 people is not a widely accepted figure. I did not make that claim, you did, that is that 360 is widely accepted. I am saying about half of the population maybe more would agree it is in the thousands of lives that Syria has killed, kidnapped and jailed. I would say that is widely accepted. Syria is not disliked because of a few politicians with personal reasons, although there are plenty with such personal reasons. Its because many people in Lebanon felt bullied by them and attacked by them for years. There was no freedom for a large demographic of Lebanon for their entire occupation. There was no political freedom. People could not speak freely against issues with the regime. Are you pretending these things did not happen? GMA was their most outspoken credit for the period.

Thumb zahle1 14:26 ,2014 حزيران 13

Are you really going to pretend that half the population was just blowing 360 lives out of proportion. You see, I believe you really feel that way, most of whom I know from Tibneen, Baraachit, and Bint Jebail feel that way that this paranoia with Syrian is unfounded. I don't think it, I have lived it. Just have you have lived it by another enemy. That is the problem. You denying this, is exactly the same thing as Israel bombing XYZ village. It is saying that as long as it is not your sect, it either wasn't so bad, did not happen, or is OK.

Thumb Mystic 18:11 ,2014 حزيران 10
