Oh Gabby14, I didn't know that "The Hezz" was still even around - especially after their neighbour "declared divine victory" over and eradicated them back in 2006. That's good to know - thanks for letting us know they have not been wiped off the face of the map or driven into the ocean or anything like that. You clearly have a sharp eye.

Looking at the operational capabilities of the Russian navy group/marines that is off the Syrian coast I think it is possible to divine Russian intentions vis-a-vis both the western-backed insurgents and the US navy/marines. I think it's largely for show and to aid in evacuations and guarding its base in the region, also possibly intelligence gathering and to allow possible limited ground operations against or in defence of specific targets (specifically the securing of NBC weapons depots and key Russian supplied weapon systems that they don't want to fall into US or insurgent hands).

Good to see the Russians at least trying to limit the overt aggression of the US military, however well intentioned.
Those Russian 'Sunburn' supersonic anti ship cruise missiles on their destroyers should give the US navy boys pause for thought anyway.
