Yara Khoury Mikael was crowned Miss Lebanon late Sunday beating out her competition for a spot in the Miss Universe pageant in Brazil in September.

The event, in which 16 women participated, was organized by LBC TV network and held at the Beirut Souks.

Miss Lebanon 2010, Rahaf Abdallah handed over the crown to Yara.

She came ahead of Carolina Nassar while Sonia Lynn Gabriel was second runner-up, Paloma Madi was third runner-up and Pamela Jabbour was fourth runner-up.

Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud, who was among the guests attending the event, left after he heard that a factory owned by him in the town of Mazraat Yashouh was on fire.

Firefighters were still battling the blaze early Monday.

Why I agree with most things you say, because I'm a die-hard March 8 supporter, I'll have to say 7aj akel khara, because our goal is not to provoke anyone, nor drag everything into a politics debate.

So according to the so-called le phenicien, the aounis are militants now

She's ugly! Perhaps too much FPM inbreeding!! Gone are the days of true Lebanese beauty.

le principe "sois belle et tais toi" so truly applies to all women in that competition...

Default-user-icon Francois (Guest) 11 July 2011, 11:07

so her name is Yara, but What's the story with that "Khoury-Mikael"... which one is which? is she married? or that is her mother's maiden name? what the hell?

Poème à Yara...

Sachez que chaque jour,
Je lis " L'Orient-Le Jour "...

Que chaque jour je prie,
Que dure encore ma vie...

Que de mes doigts si gourds,
Je chasse le balourd...

De ce Liban chéri,
Dont je suis tant épris...

Ah ! Faire un petit tour,
A Tyr...ou Tripoli...

Dans ce Liban chéri,
Terre de mes amours...

With all the respect...

She does not define the real beauty found in Lebanon... I do not know who let her have the crown but I assure you that they did a mistake!!

I was hoping it wasn't politics again that ruined the title "Miss Lebanon"

Anyways best of luck for Yara!

Le phenicien,

although we are on same political side, please don't mess politics into this...you see, ..when you do that, you give reason for zionist information war department to react and again shit here...this was a beauty contest.

Default-user-icon Expat (Guest) 11 July 2011, 13:54

Mr Le Phoenicien...we're all Lebanese and not all M8 minded people think like you....both sides have positive things...so stop your nonsense comments and go back to Israel....you're probably not Lebanese in the first place...

Thumb bashir 11 July 2011, 14:47

for once I agree with jabal amel

Le phenicien there is no need to stink up this story with typical unthinking political BS. All these girls are beautiful would represent us well and their backgrounds are not relevant.

I wpuld say bravo yara but it seems i cannot see thz difference between her and the others, same eyes, samemake up,and most importantly same nose , its a shame that where i live now, canada, lebanese women are well known among arabs and latin cultures to be all superficial and plastic, on top of beeinf always very demanding, with all do respect the some left that are good, stay this way because many lebanesemen are marrying other cultures . Thank u

What a disappointment!!!!!!!!! The Queen they chose is less than average!!! is it a Wassta???? for God sake the 1st runner up is a beauty!!! just perfect! and above all smart, calm and with high self confidence.
We were really frustrated with the results; but this always happen with Miss Lebanon.
They should let the public vote as well and take this into consideration as part of the assessment,
Carolina Nassar you are Miss Lebanon for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

meh, who cares? We need to be focused on getting more women involved in the political process, not putting crowns on their head for having the best plastic surgeon.

Carolina Nassar is Miss Lebanon!
They should know how to pick a jury really knowledgeable in beauty matters.
