Al-Rahi: We Reject a Politicized STL, It is the Only Side that Achieves Justice

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi criticized on Monday the parties describing the international tribunal as politicized saying they should provide evidence of its politicization before making any accusations.

“We don’t accept a fake or politicized court,” al-Rahi told journalists at Bkirki. “But should we describe it as politicized just because we oppose it?” he wondered.

“Evidence should be provided about its politicization or else the tribunal remains the only side that achieves justice” in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s Feb. 2005 assassination case, he stressed.

“Our problem is that everything is politicized. They could even politicize God,” al-Rahi said.

Asked about inter-Christian dialogue, al-Rahi told the delegation of journalists that committees are following-up the issue of land sales to non-Christians.

The properties should be given out for rent and not be sold, he said.

“With regards to positions in state institutions, we should cooperate to achieve our rights,” al-Rahi added.

jabal amel ta7to, the four generals were imprisoned under a Lebanese law rammed through parliament by one of the generals Jamil Sayyed. Under the Jamil Sayyed law anyone can be held without charges indefinitely. Sayyed pushed it on the parliament, headed by Nabih Berri and a pro-Syrian majority, so he'll be able to jail anti-Syrian activists.

The four generals were freed by the STL because it's own law that stipulates no one can be held without charge.

he is totally right, those who claim it is politicized, politicize it just by saying it is!
prove it like al rahi says!

that is the false logic of M8 people, just like when they blocked the parliament and all institutions for more than a year and accused the gvt of not doing any reforms or anything!!!

Sorry your Beatitude , but what about the " political " arrest of the 4 INNOCENT generals for four years ..!!! by the same tribunal and the Hariri gang , like Rifi and Hassan ..!! not to forget Siniora .

FiFi, who ever said the generals were innocent? They have not been claimed innocent by the STL, they were merely freed from detention, and they will likely be named in the next indictments.

The four generals of the apocalypse HAVE been named in the second round of indictments (see http://www.naharnet.com/stories/en/10156-second-phase-of-indictment-may-include-no-less-than-12-lebanese-and-syrian-officials).
And Rahi: What do you mean they "could" politicize God? Lesh it's Hizb what? In 2006 the "victory" came from whom? These hypocrites send death-threats to Marcel Khalifé and George Wassouf because they had quoted some little lines from the Qur'an in their songs and were therefore "blasphemers", but take an entire quote, taken out of context, pervert it to their political agenda, and brazenly poster in the middle of their flag, yellow in colour like they are.

لكن المحكمة هي لاحقاق الحق، والى أن نثبت انها مسيسة علينا القبول بما يصدر عنها"

the day clerics from all religions will stop talking politics and stick to their religion, only then will lebanon begin to be free...

religion is the opium of the people, here in lebanon they are drug addicts....

mehdi...what a crazy logic...i guess you learned it from m14.

IT'S NOT IMPORTANT ON WHICH LAW 4 GENERALS WERE IMPRISONED, BUT ON WHAT EVIDENCE. you know, like real evidence and not false witnesses. actually, if any of them had anything to do with it, i would be first to imprison them with no law at all.

If you wanted to keep jamil sayed in the prison to punish him for police state, i don't have problems with it.
but to imprison him for killing harriri, that's injustice.
