Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi held talks on Wednesday night with Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun on local issues and developments in the region and their affects on Lebanon, reported the National News Agency on Thursday.

Aoun said after the meeting at Bkirki: “We need to exert all our efforts in order to create an air of understanding that will save Lebanon from negative positions.”

“I represent a large number of Christians and I call on them today to unite to confront the country's crisis,” he remarked.

“Despite the political disputes, we must cooperate in order to tackle fateful issues,” he added.

Christian unity will “inevitably lead to Lebanese unity that will bring together all people regardless of their sects, which in turn will lead to our salvation,” said Aoun.

@ The_roar, your thinking is useless, no sect can rule Lebanon and specially not Hezbollah, and specially not now after entering war in Syria. get your facts right, in history, its not about siding with the strongest, its about siding with whos right. unfortunately no one is in lebanon right now. But u can dream on that i will let hezbollah fanatics, mustaqbal fanatics or even Christian LF or Aounist try to impose anything by force on me. Im a free man, and i will not follow someone because he threatens me or my family. We either are or arent.

It is all very well that you get the approval of Al-Rahi for your nomination to the Presidency, but you forget that HA the main power broker in Lebanon will never agree to you as president. They view you as unstable and will without a second thought send in the army to disarm them. So stop craving for this position because God forbid you will neverrrrrrrrrr be president.
