Geagea Warns All Lebanese Will Hold Arms if Hizbullah Attempts System Change

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has warned that all Lebanese factions would hold arms and confront a possible attempt by Hizbullah to impose a change in the political system.

In an interview with Alriyadh newspaper published on Wednesday, Geagea said: “If Hizbullah considers any such a move then every Lebanese group will hold arms.”

He stressed that any attempt by Hizbullah to make a “constitutional coup” is “totally rejected in Lebanon.”

“The powerful does not impose anything,” he said in response to a question on a possible endeavor by the party to make changes to the Lebanese political system.

Geagea has warned in previous interviews that Hizbullah and its backers are seeking through their demographic size to change the balance created by the Taef Accord.

He said Lebanon has been suffering from a “system crisis,” which could be resolved if Lebanese officials assumed their full responsibilities in guaranteeing the safety of the system and holding onto the Taef.

In Wednesday's interview, the LF chief again denied that he was a candidate for the presidency.

But he said that he is bringing the issue up because the top post has been neglected and marginalized since the end of the civil war in 1990.

“I will continue to discuss about it until we reach serious presidential elections,” he said.

Geagea rejected attempts by the March 8 alliance to push for the candidacy of his rival Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun, saying however that he was ready to cooperate with him “to bring a powerful and effective president who can take appropriate decisions.”

President Michel Suleiman's six-year term ends in May 2014 but there are fears that differences and lack of consensus among rival political parties would prevent the parliament from meeting and would lead to a vacuum in the top post.

Geagea warned that “vacuum poses a danger to the Lebanese system.”

“It is the responsibility of the MP to participate in a session to elect the president no matter what his opinion is,” he said. “We will work on making that happen.”

we are heading fast towards civil war and it is all due to the actions of the likes of Hizbushaitan, Berri, Aoun and Frangieh.
let them assume what will happen.

Thumb smarty 23 October 2013, 10:41

they won't assume it, remember that they did it all already yet here they are 25 years later. only the families that mourned their dead remember...so it seems.

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 11:14

fear tactics by geagea. he invents "secret intentions" that hezbollah would allegedly have (no need to prove them by any actions or facts, his army of zombies have been trained to accept "truths" without proof) and then makes threats.

come on geagea, we know you're itching, it's been years you're hiding under that mask, the real you is dying to come out, yalla, let it out, i cant wait to see you do your last mistake.

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 11:43

wasn't it you the other day saying wise men speak because they have something to say, fools because they have to say something?

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 12:45

yes i learned you were a fool

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 16:48

just an itsy bitsy tiny difference though. the takfiri danger can be demonstrated in facts and actions.

there are actual terrorists attacks that took place in lebanon, hundreds if not thousands of religiously-motivated beheading and executions in syria, there are their declarations and threats against lebanese people, there are terrorist cells that were apprehended here, there are the countless times and places they attacked the lebanese army, from saida, to arsal to tripoli... etc...
so you see, there is an actual danger, so what i'm worried about is why geagea doesnt talk about it?

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 19:05

"@Mowaten : the terrorist attacks you mention in Lebanon are all done by Hezbollah or by groups introduced and armed by Bashar el Assad."
well, i guess if you decreed it just like that there's nothing to argue about. i bet jesus was also crucified by hezbollah

mowaten,
Gaegae speaks for a significant portion of Lebanese. HA is causing many Lebanese to hold arms against it because they are pushing the envelope too far. HA did not free Lebanon, they only kicked out Israel to hand it over to the Ayatollah and no Lebanese will stand for that.

Thumb _mowaten_ 24 October 2013, 11:12

gaegae pretends to talk for "all lebanese" when he should be talking for himself and his 6 MPs worth of elected representatives.

Thumb _mowaten_ 24 October 2013, 15:22

if you dont need to prove anything, i dont need to disprove anything you say.

if you can come up with some decent reasoning we can discuss, but if you just want to throw out random accusations, exaggerations and falsifications, i'm not going to bother.

Well said Hakim! About time those thugs know there is a limit to their treacherous under cover game! The lebanese pasdaran divison, renamed resistance, will some day pay dearly for all their crimes, political assassinations, foolish military adventures in Lebanon and elsewhere !

Default-user-icon Truth (Guest) 23 October 2013, 09:09

The lebanese gave back their arms in 1990, except what we know today are a bunch of serial killers and mercenaires, executing Iran, and Bashar's policies in Lebanon and the region...

Geagea makes dangerous charges and promotes violence with his latest pronouncements ...

Is Geagea earning his Wahhabi stipend or fearing the loss of his own party? Probably both. Geagea has proved to be a failure.

Geagea's provocations will go unanswered because they do not deserve serious consideration. They are the ravings of a man in desperation.

Missing imagine_1979 23 October 2013, 10:03

True geagea is to blame for assassination of march 14 political leaders, for bombings in tripoli and dahiyeh, for killing protestors in front of iranian embassi...even for smaha/mamlouk plot and all the crappy political aituation we are in....
I'm not an LF supporter bc saddely i cannot detach myself from their past even if i recognized that all (even hezbollah) tooked part in the civil war, but get a life wolf....

Civil war already loading without hakim statment.. HA and salfist already armed and ready for the fight. I dont think the christian can accept either HA rules or salafist or wahabies or anyones rules. Christians are freeminded and will always be. I would sugesst to leave us alone letting us do whatever we want as both side (Salfist and Shia) will not survive without alcohol, night clubs,in addition most of the philosoph , writers, historic,thinker,...were mostly christians. I beleive with no Christians in Lebanon we will become Pakistan2. Au revoir et merci Liban

Thumb smarty 23 October 2013, 10:42

Is it time we ask Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the others to arm us? Might as well arm the million syrian refugees and the half million palestinians to see what they'll have to answer to that.

Thumb Roaring-FlameThrower 23 October 2013, 10:52

Hilarious..... Unbelievably Funny..... Comical.... Dr. Gaegae is:)))) I roaring-flamethrower have decided to become a soldier at the service of Sayyed Hassanallah and the Islamic Secular Resistance. As long as traitors exist and backstabbers thrive, the resistance will not rest or sleep. If Dr. Gaegae is calling for taking up arms, I advise him to watch the glorious video of our warriors off loading injured syrian prisoners and riddling them with bullets. Their fate at the hands of our warriors might serve as a lesson to those who might remotely think of taking up arms.

Man,i respect your believes but that doesn't give you the right to say christians are weak!! the difference between now and before is that hizbullah is fighting in syria, so they have less fighters in lebanon and we know exactly were to find them. israel each time had pressure to stop her attacks against lebanon because of civilian casualties, that's why each time HA won.In a civil war, civilian casualties are accepted, so hizbullah will have to fight in syria,in lebanon, and against israel who will use the civil war as an excuse to invade lebanon... syria is already taken by it civil war, so no help is going to come from the neighbors...so please try to understand that this time it will be a total different war and that HA is in total disadvantage.

If the Christians remain divided - one against and one pro HA - then kiss Lebanon goodbye. The Christians have invariably been divided because of personal interest in ripping off Lebanon as was the case since lebanon's independence. Hence, I wouldn;t be sorry as a Christian Lebanese if the Christians lose everything that they got in Lebanon. The Christians in Lebanon have become a real joke. bashir Jumail fighting the other christian factors to prevail; Aoun fighting the Lebanese forces to prevail; late Hubeika fighting the lebanese forces to go back as a leader. The history of the Christians in Lebanon stinks to say the least. hence, they deserve all the shit they get. Aoun at this moment is having the best ministries and with his SIL they are eating like crazy.

The Council of Ministers is resigned and there is a Caretaker Council.
The Parlimentary Mandate ended on June 6, 2013 and cannot be continued constitutionally. These two bodies of government do not exist anymore.
All that is left is the impotent Presidency and it will lapse next year.
So what is left now of the government?? Nothing.
Why? Because the country has been cowed into inaction by Hezbollah, or maybe the rest of the country likes the Regime of Hezbollahistan and there is not much willingness to change it or take it off of its course.

If the true Resistance in Lebanon lets up, then Lebanon will quickly slide down the slope of becoming an Islamic Republic.
The True Resistance in Lebanon are those who are contesting Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Thumb cityboy 23 October 2013, 16:25

That's funny, because I can swear that it is none other then himself, Hassan Nasrallah that also said that no one sect in Lebanon can rule over another and that Lebanon will always be for all Lebanese. If you truly believe that HA are controlling the state then maybe that hasn't been such a bad thing for Lebanon. Last I checked Lebanese still are free to go anywhere in the country and enjoy probably the most political, religious, social and personal freedoms out of any Arab country. So maybe not everyone sees everything as doom and gloom as you phoenix despite all the flaws in this country.

Thumb lebanon_first 23 October 2013, 16:27

as one party is totally free to bear arms and decide the fate of the country instead of the state itself , then anyone can bear arms in the name of éresistance" ! LOL ... why double standards?

it is the logic the iranian militia has set for lebanon....
