Maronite League Team Prevented from Surveying Patriarchate Lands in Lasa

A number of residents of the Byblos District town of Lasa on Thursday attacked a delegation from the Maronite League which was surveying lands owned by the Maronite Patriarchate in the town, Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) reported.

Army troops intervened to end the attack on the delegation, which was accompanied by a Maronite priest and a number of the area’s residents, the radio station said.

Talal Douehi, a member of the League’s executive council, said “the Maronite League team was attacked by locals and prevented from continuing the surveying of lands owned by the Maronite Patriarchate.”

“The attack is not the first of its kind,” Douehi added, noting that “every time we try to resume the surveying operation, a number of people gather round and attack us.”

Asked about Hizbullah’s stance on the issue, Douehi said: “We tried to contact them, but no one answered.”

the Hizb is the one orchestrated the attack of course they are not going to answer . not long from now we might have to ask for permission to pray in our own churches , Hizbullah may not even allow that either . Aoun ? forget about it too busy sorting out the power that went out to his head

they want to reach the mediterrenean through shiite villages only, any small officer in military can figure it but not a"general".

That is not good enough. The army should have facilitated the completion of the survey not only stop the attack.
Allowing these savages to have their way is a bigger crime. Do we have any leaders to stand up against these animals.
By the way, was Hajj Mikdad there, the sign says he is still alive? :)

It's just like cancer eating up the country little by little. It's only a matter of years before we have to kiss the country good bye unless we do something about it

I say you get what you deserve. The Lebanese allow Histhrowup control over the region...suck it up and deal with it. As for the army...LOL. Israel would do a better job than the "army" that turban head allows to operate. Army my ass.

Aoun should be on site ranting and raving about this tomorrow, but alas he in no longer a Christian leader and doesn't want to upset his puppet masters...

to all people here, that are for Lebanon first and not for Israel or Iran and Syria, dont care if other people like Jabal amel or others call me a zionist agent or i dont know what else, they can say whatever they want they will not remove one inch of my convictions towards our 10452km2 , NO ONE should attack christians , sunnis, chiites or druzes, all sects should be respected, but we should understand that first all militias must be disbanded, PALESTINIANS and HEZBOLLAH , build a strong state with strong people, not licking boots of Syria, Iran , Israel, KSA, or USA, but this will not happen before we open up to each other and handle our differences, Hezbollah is inciting the noble chiite sect against other citizens by the simple facts that it protects them from the law and state, thus giving the right to some bad people of this sect to do wtv they want. this must end, everybody loves Lebanon and nobody should be a foreign agent or defend the killing or humiliattion of a sect

It is not enough to condemn, it is not enough to speak senseless words on the news , our politiicians are very strong with that kind of thing, ACTION not words, will be judged, we should all confront Syria, Iran and Israel , defend and protect our interests, in diplomatic manners, and if attacked militarily, by anyone, we should unite under one single lebanese strong army, and all protect our envied country. that is the way to go, not by allowing militias to re-establish, this is not a climate to live in, we dont need the USA way of Life, or the Iranian way of life, people come to Lebanon to live the Lebanese way of life, which is openess, living our life fully , all together, we need only allies ECONOMICALLY , and we need to achieve a FAIR peace with Israel, where it understands what is ours and what is hers, and not violate our terrritories anymore, LEBANON first, for now, for tomorrow, forever till the end of times.

I used to love the Hizb and the Shiite but I think if they do not get their act together, many people will start hating them like me.
Akalo il dareib ou 3am bi khabso il jame3a (hizb), they better be careful and know that only the Lebanese will help them and especially the Christians so let them not disrespect them.

I don't want to sound naive but what exactly happened?
I don't understand why the Maronite league weren't able to survey their Patriarchate's lands.
What does Hizbullah have anything to do with this? I don't understand why their stance matters.

I appreciate any clarification!

when hizb tried entering some druze areas, they got their asses kicked. the same will happen anywhere else they go with hostile intent.

that's a lesson all lebanese should have learned from the civil war. *No one* can rule lebanon by force. If one sect thinks it can bully others because it has weapons, it should know that weapons are not the source of power, it's the will of the people. If they provoke other sects with force, other sects can easily arm themselves and they will start another civil war. It seems to me many are still naive in thinking that weapons are difficult to get. After drugs, weapons are probably the easiest thing to get anywhere in the world.

Will of the people my friends. Just look at what the will of the vietnamese people did to the american forces in the 60s. They were under the impression that the americans were colonizing their country, so they fought to the bitter end and defeated the all-powerful army.
