Egypt's Brotherhood Offers Talks to 'Exit' Post-Morsi Crisis

An Islamist coalition led by the Muslim Brotherhood on Saturday offered negotiations to end the deadly tumult since Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's overthrow, without explicitly insisting on his reinstatement.

The coalition "calls on all revolutionary forces and political parties and patriotic figures to enter a deep dialogue on exiting the current crisis," it said in a statement.

The coalition, which has organized weekly protests despite a harsh police crackdown, insisted on keeping up "peaceful opposition" but said it wanted a "consensus for the public good of the country."

It proposed conditions to enter the dialogue, including the release of Islamist prisoners and the reopening of Islamist broadcasters shut down after Morsi's July 3 overthrow by the military.

Unlike previous proposals, which all hinged on the Islamist leader's return prior to negotiations, the Islamists were pointedly vague on their end goals.

They demanded "a return to constitutional legitimacy and the democratic process with the participation of all political groups, without one group monopolizing the process or excluding any group."

Which means unlike what the MB practiced when they were in power, good to know they had change of mind.

I believe Rover98's comments below are a more accurate representation of the MB's very short term in power, and the hypocrisy of the current coup government was demonstrated after murdering 1000s of protestors, then putting Mursi on trial for "instigating" the murder of a handful of protestors, and then freeing Mubarak, who held the reigns of an oppressive government for 30 years.

What about the conspiracy in place when the brotherhood was in power to freeze the economy, energy resources by the wealthy industrialist, not mention the hands of the state security and army and media were still under control of the old ruling elite?

The best talk that can be given to Sanni lunatics should be limited to helping them voluntarily hang themselves and become honorary members of the Society of Ultimate Repentance.
