A delegation from the Free Patriotic Movement and another from the Phalange Party held talks on Monday as part of the former's initiative to end the political deadlock in Lebanon.

FPM MP Simon Abi Ramia announced: “We were in agreement over all issues and the need to revitalize legislation.”

“We are seeking talks with all parties in order to reach understandings on national issues,” he added after the talks that were held at the parliament building in Beirut

Moreover, he criticized linking resolving Lebanese disputes until a solution is reached to the crisis in Syria.

“The Lebanese people's daily lives should not be put on hold until the crisis in Syria is resolved,” said Abi Ramia.

“The catastrophic situation in Lebanon should not continue. Should we keep waiting for a solution to regional disputes that may last years?” he wondered.

Speaking on behalf of the Phalange Party, MP Elie Marouni stated: “We agreed that the presidential elections should not be postponed in order to avoid further vacuum in Lebanon.”

Abi Ramia added: “All discussions on extending President Michel Suleiman's term should end.”

The FPM and Phalange Party agreed to hold more meetings in the future, with Abi Ramia revealing that a meeting is yet to be scheduled with the Lebanese Forces.

The Movement has been holding a series of meetings with political powers in Lebanon aimed at ending the country's deadlock.

Prior to Monday's meeting, it had held talks with the Mustaqbal bloc on November 7.

The meeting did not result in an accord between both parties, although it was an opportunity to “share ideas and reach common grounds,” the MPs said after the talks.

Christians must not allow themselves to be marginalized by the Sunni-Shia aggressions caused by the KSA Wahhabi Fatwa or they will be crushed as they have been in Iraq and Syria.

The Phalange should come to realize that by backing Mustaqbal they are supporting the destruction of Lebanon for the religious and foreign policy of the KSA and GCC.

@Bickini : AOUNIES should come to realize that by backing HEZBOLLAH they are supporting the destruction of Lebanon for the religious and foreign policy of IRAN and SYRIA.

SAME SENTENCE ... just fill in the blanks ...

Double standards and irrelevant argument !

I hear M8 members and supporters get free captagon for every comment they post...

Do they also give out free hashish and cocaine ? If not, are you entitled to a discount ?

I'm thinking of joining your "movement"... I can finally see the benefits of being M8. Free drugs ... instead of drug free !

Mckinl

You should realize that you are constantly bashing the most moderate sunnite party that exist in the MENA region: Mustakbal.
Thank God that our sunnites are represented with (relatively moderate) Mustakbal, not with Ennahda or Moslem brotherhood or Qaeda or another medieval extrimist party.

As for christians being crushed. Forget it. It will not happen. Lebanese Christians are not like Iraki christians. They are like iraki kurds. They are grouped in one region, they are rich, and they can live without their moslem brothers if those brothers decide to turn medieval on them.

KSA did not do a fatwa on lebanon. One of the most lebanon loving leaders in the arab world is king abdallah. He put 1 Billion dollar to prop the lebanese pound during 2006. while Iran spends 1Billion dollar to destabilize lebanon every year.

Phalange is backing Mustakbal despite the failings of Mustakbal because the alternative (HA) is against the building of a state.

Do you agree on disarming the terrorist party of Kezballah ?

Do you agree on condemning Bashar el Assad for the tripoli bombings ?

Do you agree on getting Hezbollah suspects blamed for assassinations and bombings to trial ?

If not, then you don't agree on anything !

@Southern : what's patriotic about putting Syria, Iran and Palestine ahead of Lebanon ?

It's patriotic indeed when you're not Lebanese !

Thumb lebanon_first 18 November 2013, 16:26

Of course the FPM did not. But the Syria and its allies did. Maybe even the Hezb.

The two most Patriotic parties in Lebanon meeting. Good start.

who then ya slash? Hariri who stopped all the country until he gets what he wants? Or HA who is constantly undermining our sovereignty? Or Berri the thief.

I remind you. FPM is not putting bombs, It is not fighting in Syria. It is not killing leaders. It is not armed. It is not undermining the state. Hezbollah is.

Carry a gun for christianity? Christianity is about love, not war and guns!
