Report: Security Agencies Received Warning ahead of Iranian Embassy Attack

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Security agencies received information on a terrorist attack targeting a diplomatic headquarters that is loyal to the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad to exert pressure on Hizbullah to withdraw from battles in the neighboring country.

According to As Safir newspaper published on Wednesday, a security source said that Lebanese security agencies received data from informants and west security agencies warning of a scheme by head of al-Qaida's Abdullah Azzam Brigades Majed al-Majed to attack Hizbullah, in cooperation with Saudi national Ahmed al-Suiedi.

However, conflicting reports emerged on the way the group would carry out the attack, whether by an explosive-laden vehicle or via a suicide attack.

At least 23 people were killed and 150 wounded in twin suicide blasts that targeted the Iranian Embassy in the Hizbullah stronghold of Bir Hassan on Tuesday.

The blasts were claimed by the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, a jihadist group linked to al-Qaida that has previously fired rockets at Israel from Lebanese territory.

The powerful explosions just opposite the multi-storey embassy caused chaos, ripping the facades off nearby buildings and setting cars ablaze.

Hizbullah, which is fighting alongside the regime of Assad in war-hit Syria, has seen its strongholds in southern Beirut targeted twice by car bombs this year.

The blasts, on July 9 and August 15, killed 27 people.

Tensions in Lebanon over the 32-month-old conflict in Syria have been rising, with Hizbullah's involvement criticized by many Sunni Lebanese who back the Sunni-dominated uprising against Assad.

whatever, such things will continue.

Thumb _mowaten_ 20 November 2013, 10:02

you forgot to say hooray.

the one good thing about this wave of terrorist attacks is that it makes people drop their masks, and we can now see clearly what we always suspected. geha you deserve to have your own suicide belt, 3a2belak.

Thumb geha 20 November 2013, 10:41

I never say hooray to any bombing :)
so accusing for accusing is stupidity incarnated.
this is the current situation created by iran and hizbushaitan: do you deny it?

Thumb sevilla 20 November 2013, 12:03

@mowate: when you use the word "we".... are you speaking on behalf of your employer or on behalf of the atheist community? LOL

Thumb primesuspect 20 November 2013, 12:24

@Jasper: he speaks on behalf of his 10 aliases.

Thumb _mowaten_ 20 November 2013, 13:42

What's hypocrite about that FT ?

Saying the shiite community "will pay dearly" doesn't mean they "deserve" it ... it means that shiites are VICTIMS of Hezbollah's and Iran actions.

Hezbollah will not "pay dearly", the innocent shiite civilians are paying for Hezbollah and Iran's stupidity !...

Where do you see a praising of the bombing in his words?

You see how you twist other people's words with your crap?

Thumb _mowaten_ 20 November 2013, 10:00

and of course they did nothing. like the threat was too vague, it could have been iran, or russia. wow two possibilities, must have blown their minds.

nusra-lla or zawa-hiri r 2 sides of the same coin. we want neither on lebanese soil.

Thumb primesuspect 20 November 2013, 12:27

Thumb geha 20 November 2013, 10:44

it looks like m8 wants to target me now for saying things the way they are :)
stupidity continues on and on.
this situation has been created by iran and hizbushaitan whether you want to admit it or not.
nothing justifies all the terrorist actions done by hizbushaitan under the orders of iran for years now: do you expect any sane person to be blind to such terrorism?
this terrorism was bound to have someone retaliate, and this is what is happening.

You have to love free speech in Lebanon!

I can't believe naharnet deleted my comment that promoted unity rather then division!

To the administrator that deleted my comment: Shame on you! You do not care for Naharnet, my comment had no profanity, no cursing and no insult to ant specific leader yet it was censored!

Makes me wonder...

Thumb _mowaten_ 20 November 2013, 13:46

Dimyl: comments are deleted based on "reports", pretty randomly. suffices that a person uses his multiple aliases to report you several times and your comment is gone.
when positive/pro-lebanese comments get reported/censored it only confirms for me that their are enemies of lebanon all over this forum.

How can you stop someone who is ready to kill himself and go to hell? There is no way.

Thumb primesuspect 20 November 2013, 13:09

isn't it wat israel always wanted? yet they aren't behind the current events unless as people tend to say, the giraff and the zion are partners in crime.

Its shameful, counter-productive and embarrasing to read the paranoid accusations about the western countries and Israel were behind the attack on the iranian embassy. Here the lebanese security source confirms that they on the contrary received a warning about an attack from western security agencies. The west has no interest whatsoever to put fuel on the sectarian conflict. The arabs are more than capable of doing this all by themselves.
Regarding Israel, there is nothing to indicate involvement from their side either. They usually operate in a much more sophisticated way by pinpointing their (iranian) targets.
Say it like it is, this is tit-for-tat attacks without western involvement that is likely to continue for quite sometime.

Lebanese sunnis and shias should thank Allah we have christians in this country. I think at the moment they're the only thing holding us from civil war. Without them we would be like Irak...
Their presence and their division M8/M14 holds this country together.

No geha, this I entire situation has been created by the KSA. Who initially fuelled the violence in Syria by sending jihadists? Who financed the hundreds of terror acts against unarmed Alawite civilians? Who continued to lobby the west to intervene and invade Syria? Who is now funding extremists in Lebanon? As I stated previously, based on you comments it is justifiable for sunni's to be targeted and blown up world wide, sunni jihadists traveled from all over the world to fight what was sold to them as a holy war. Yes HA is loyal to President Bashar but targeting the Shia community living their lives in another country is a low and cowardly act (but we except that this is the wahabi takfiris mode of operation). KSA have been defeated and will also be defeated in Lebanon because the Syrian and Lebanese people will reject oppression and its wahabi founders.

you should educate yourself a bit more on what's going on in syria... sure for a simple mind it is black or white, but if you really want to understand you'd better have a more comprehensive view...

hezbollah and syria want you to think that way, they sure succeeded....
