Speaker Nabih Berri held talks on Monday with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani and head of Shura Council Ali Larijani on Tehran's landmark nuclear deal with world powers.

Talks focused on the regional repercussions of the deal.

Berri described after meeting Larijani the agreement as “the deal of the generation.”

For his part, Larijani deemed his talks with Berri as “constructive”, saying they addressed bilateral relations and sensitive regional affairs.

Later on Monday, Berri and the accompanying delegation met with President Rouhani and talks focused on the current regional and international situations and the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, Lebanon's National News Agency said.

Rouhani hoped the visit will "contribute to enhancing ties between the two countries," underlining Iran's keenness on Lebanon, NNA said.

Berri also held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the regional and international developments and the landmark nuclear deal.

Zarif offered condolences to the Lebanese people over the victims of "the criminal attack on the Iranian embassy in Beirut," warning that "this indicates that we all can be victims of extremism and terrorism and we have to cooperate with each other."

The Lebanese delegation accompanying Berri described the visit and the meetings as successful at all levels, noting that the Iranians agreed to the speaker's viewpoints, “especially with regards to confronting the conspiracy of sedition and seeking Iranian-Arab rapprochement.”

On Sunday, Berri hoped the nuclear agreement will pave the way for a “settlement” in war-torn Syria.

The speaker visited Tehran at an official invitation from his Iranian counterpart Larijani. He is accompanied by MPs Abdul Latif al-Zein, Hagop Pakradounian, Ghazi Zoaiter, Ali Fayyad and Qassem Hashem.

Tehran has agreed that it will not enrich uranium over five percent for the six-month period and will neutralize its entire stockpile of uranium enriched to 20 percent, which is close to weapons-grade and therefore an area of top concern.

In return, the EU and United States will suspend sanctions on Iran's petrochemical exports and gold and precious metals sector.

U.S. trade restrictions on the country's auto industry will also be suspended.

Amazing those who are just blinded by hate and propaganda: A deal that took away Assad's chemical weapons, and allegedly Iran's military nuclear capability is now regarded as a "great" deal and a "historic" achievement. In the end, who benefited: ISRAEL:))))

Thumb liberty 25 November 2013, 13:53

Notwithstanding the external agendas, it's always the developments on the ground that prevail, u should know it better than anyone.

Rebels are finally uniting and showing their disagreement with ISIS, I dont think there will be an Assad in 6 months.
Regarding partition, it's not realistic, maybe a iraqized syria...

Berri Meets Khamenei, Larijani in Tehran Visit, Lauds Iran's Nuclear Deal ............
This is not a trip for official business. This is a Pro-Iran Shia delegation paying homage to the homeland and an Armenian tagged along for tourism.
Berri feels so at home in the photo, family reunion as well as negotiate a pay raise for himself and HA for a job well done in Lebanon and Syria.

Yes, yes yes.

Thumb Mystic 25 November 2013, 20:53

@Souk Israel were one of the few countries that wanted USA to bomb Syria. Along with your brother Saudis ofcourse. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/25/israel-syria-chemical-attack_n_3813244.html What do you say now Mr. Wahabi? Give us some more of your brilliant "facts" :D

Thumb cedre 25 November 2013, 22:42

mystic, when USA and Israel want to bomb a country, they do it.
They never wanted to bomb iran or syria, ksa diplomacy is so naive, they take their wishes for geopolitic realities...

Thumb Mystic 26 November 2013, 01:14

Only reason that they didn't bomb Syria, was because of the economic crisis which meant they couldn't afford it, and because of Russia started beating on the table.

Thumb Mystic 27 November 2013, 05:24

lol texas, if you notice politicians often say something public, and do something else on the sidelines ;)
