Tripoli International Highway Briefly Blocked to Protest Transfer of Inmate

Al-Beddawi residents briefly blocked on Tuesday the international highway that links Tripoli to Akkar district to protest the transfer of an inmate to the Zgharta facility.

Several youth opened fire in the air while blocking the road, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The prisoner, who was being transferred from al-Qobbeh prison in Tripoli to the Zgharta facility, is charged with killing a person from al-Hamza family in Zgharta.

According to the NNA the family of the inmate, al-Mehrez, has disputes with al-Hamza family.
