Aoun Demands Miqati to Leave the Grand Serail, Blames Universities for Students' Clashes

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun accused Lebanese universities of causing politically-motivated standoffs between students.

“Universities are the roots of clashes between students because they forbid political dialogue on campus,” Aoun said after Change and Reform bloc's weekly meeting.

He explained: “Today, students enroll in universities with a previously formed political ideology and clashes happen because they do not have a space to express their views.”

“We hope universities will launch opportunities for political dialogue on campus,” Aoun added.

Tensions surged on Monday at the Universite Saint Joseph-Huvelin campus in Beirut as Hizbullah supporters protested against recent student elections results.

MTV said that the supporters surrounded the campus in protest, sparking tensions between them and the March 14 students.

The army soon intervened however averting any clash between the rival camps.

In a separate matter, the FPM leader called on caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati to “leave the Grand Serail.”

He elaborated: “Miqati is disassociating himself from local events, and many things are taking place after securing the signature of the cabinet's secretary-general Suhail Bouji and President Michel Suleiman.”

Regarding the work of the parliament, Aoun said: “The parliament, and although it has extended its mandate, is not legislating.”

“What did we do in the past four months?”

The Change and Reform bloc also tackled the imprisonment of suspects in last Junes' clashes against the military institutions in Abra in a prison in the southern town of Jezzine.

“They are held in a prison in Jezzine that is not properly equipped and does not have the necessary conditions to be a jail,” Aoun pointed out.

Get used to it... life is much bigger than your bipolar view of the world.

I was with the Lebanese Forces, the day your general unleash his anger on us and suddenly he asked the LF to disarm, while every one else still had arms... Your general is a coward. He wanted the Lebanese Forces to disarm, so he can control the Christian voice and be the only one.
Let me ask you this; The Lebanese Forces had to disarm in his opinion because it was a militia, but it is ok for Hezzbullah to keep its arms... Let me refresh your memory roar, Hizzbullah is also a militia.
Your general should have asked for ALL the militia to disarm, not to pick up on one militia (in this case the LF) to disarm alone.
The Lebanese Forces gave thousands and thousands of marytrs while fighting against the PLO and the Syrian army during the hegemony, so don't brag much about your genral. We were the first to die for this nation. At least, we never changed course, unlike your traitor general.

Missing imagine_1979 26 November 2013, 19:54

Not a fan of lf but the general (yes the one and only) said few years ago that hezbollah was a militia under the control of the syrian regime abd it had to be disarmed... Sorry that was when he went doing his speech for syria accountability act in front of american politicians, when we were on the streets getting threatened by ahbech and jailed under the order of jamil el sayed and co. so i guess that was a long time ago...

Aoun = Most powerful christian in Lebanon ?

We christians truly have no hope left...

The most powerful christians in Lebanon are actually people you have not heard of. They control banks, media, advertising and most of our economy.

Aoun is a bacteria compared to these guys who actually control politicians like puppets...

But if you insist on calling aoun powerful, go ahead ... this doesn't make it true. it makes you pathetic.

The most powerful christian in Lebanon does not obey to Hezbollah and jump to their defence. They don't accuse Bashar of killing Hariri and side with him the next month...

There is nothing powerful about Aoun except his partner's weapons !

Thumb FlameCatcher 26 November 2013, 19:26

Yes ... and the USJ vote has spoken... so shut up already ... Aoun is no longer the most powerful Xtian. Accept your defeat and prepare your next elections because you're going to need another divine intervention

Thumb FlameCatcher 26 November 2013, 19:40

Unlike you, I have an opinion and don't switch sides according to which I believe is the strongest.

I understand democracy better than any Aouni.

For starters, I don't side with regimes like Iran, Syria and Saudi which piss on your democracy. I don't side with Hezbollah who's concept of democracy and vote is the number of weapons you hold. Whose concept of dialogue is eliminating your enemy or calling them zionists because they don't adhere to their ideals.

You want democracy ? Aoun can indeed be the strongest politician in Lebanon. Not only Christian. But to achieve that, he will have to build a party that is INDEPENDENT of such trashy partners. And demand a Lebanon free of any external influence including Iran and Syria. Not just Saudi.

With that, I will be his first supporter. Until then, god help us !

Thumb FlameCatcher 26 November 2013, 19:53

I love seeing people stuck in a bipolar mindset. You can salivate to the idea that i'm M14 all your life. This doesn't make it true.

I despise them just as much as you do. But I hate hezbollah more and anything that stands in the way of terminating their role of Lebanese Resistance and disarming them.

I'm against Hezbollah and with anyone who stands in the way.

All other issues are secondary at this point in time because nothing can be solved permanently without dealing with Hezbollah first.

M14's time is coming and they too will be eliminated. It's just a matter of eliminating the bigger threat first !

Missing imagine_1979 26 November 2013, 20:02

No hezbollah is the nice guy, salman got killed by mistake in front of our dear security forces and army... The guy was just checking boutros harb elevator so that's why he didnot compare to justice, all the threat that if u elect a president in simple majority, if u do a one sided cabinet(cause this ine is not one sided)in fact if do not as it pleases hezbollah u will see what will happen.. I usually agree with ur post but not on this one, in lebanon we get into life in saint jean or rasul al aazam or any other religious funded hospital, we live in our village/city wich also has a religious caracter in general, we go to a schoo where most of the student are from the same sect... university should be a food place to mingle/exchange ideas, views, know eachother and maybe share comon views... So why not politics in university? The college student should be the leadding power for change.... I know in theory but this is how i see things..

Do not buy the propaganda of this idiot The-Bore. He tries to promote the Clown as the "Christian leader" of Lebanon.

The truth is that M14 won the Christian vote in the last elections, and M14 has more Christian MP's than M8.

By the Constitution, there 128 Members of Parliament, and half are Christian (64 Christian MP's).

M8 has only 31 Christian MP's out of the 68. M14 has 37.

Last time I checked, 37 is greater than 31.
