An arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday against a Lebanese suspect for his links to bombings in Beirut's southern suburbs, reported the National News Agency.

It said that Military Examining Magistrate Imad al-Zein issued the warrant against Hassan R. on charges of carrying out terrorist attacks in the Bir al-Abed and al-Ruwais areas.

He was also charged with causing the death and injury of a number of people and the destruction of property and vehicles.

The suspect is in custody in connection to terrorist attacks.

Zein will interrogate other suspects linked to the bombings next week.

Fifty-three people were wounded when a booby-trapped car exploded at a parking lot near a Hizbullah religious center in Beirut's southern suburb of Bir al-Abed on July 9.

A little known Syrian rebel group claimed responsibility for the attack.

On August 15, at least 21 people were killed and 200 wounded in a car bomb attack in the Ruwais neighborhood in Beirut's southern suburbs.

I'm glad they caught the criminals, but there is another culprit in Tripoli who is accused of a similar heinous crime, why don't the security forces in this case bring this terrorist to trial, why all of a sudden our security agencies are helpless? These double standards are what raises question marks around the impartiality of our security and judicial system. Until the Tripoli bombing criminals are brought to justice, there will be no rest to the families and thus to this city
