Charbel Receives New Threat from Extremists

A new audio recording was circulated online on Thursday where one of the leaders of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) threatens Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel.

According to LBCI, the threats were made over statements by Charbel concerning the extremist group.

“We are coming to Lebanon,” he said, describing Charbel as the “enemy of Allah.”

“We will sacrifice him,” the leader said.

The 45-second voice recording was broadcast by LBCI.

The channel didn't clarify how it received the voice recording.

Earlier on Thursday, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported that the competent security agencies uncovered the identity of the person who was behind the video threatening Charbel.

A security source rejected to unveil the name of the culprit until he is brought to justice, noting that a permission was granted to pursue him on charges of destabilizing civil peace in the northern city of Tripoli, incitement and sedition.

On Tuesday, LBCI aired a one-minute video for an unknown man threatening Charbel over a statement he issued that “if the farce in Tripoli didn't end then the army is ready to engage in another battle like the one in Nahr al-Bared.”

“I've heard so many threats in my life... May god forgive him,” Charbel told the newspaper.

He pointed out the security forces are carrying out investigations to “deal with this phenomena.”

Humm, why does da3esh send their recording along with a over five month old photo of 5 al nursa terrorists? I though the two did not like each others.

Default-user-icon aboujahl (Guest) 05 December 2013, 15:21

shame, yes they are, idiots, yes they are, but the real shame and idiots are the ones who gave them justifiable grounds ...

Thumb FlameCatcher 05 December 2013, 15:41

I agree ... and for you to cut the links with Syria an Iran. They are also the devil.

No double standards !

Thumb FlameCatcher 05 December 2013, 18:13

@KK : Anyone can record such videos by the way. Assad has a history of broadcasting such videos like the fake video of the Hariri "bomber". Or the fake Hezbollah videos "intercepted" from Israeli drones. Or the fake Jazeera / Arabiya videos about massacres in Syria.

Point is : Yes, these are seriously disturbing videos if they are real. But how can you know this is not staged ? Or people trying to pass for others ?

Syria has a very strong track record of forming such terrorist groups by the way. It's their national product ! Straight out of Assad's training camps ("prisons") to where they are needed.

Thumb Senescence 05 December 2013, 18:17

FlameCatcher, the maker of the second video has been caught.

The first video's veracity is of little doubt since ISIS's manifesto basically concludes with the need for a Caliphate in the Levant, which as you'd know, includes Lebanon.

Thumb Senescence 05 December 2013, 18:18

FlameCatcher, also, ISIS isn't a creation of Assad's, that's just plain silly.

I don't agree with you!they are not animals, its an insult to the animal kingdom, they are bacteria, a virus that has to be eradicated by all means. Not less than that

Thumb AntiSheepism 05 December 2013, 17:06

Thumb AntiSheepism 05 December 2013, 17:10

There is no point trying to understand this sort of delusional ideology. They probably believe that they have a God appointed right to slaughter people into submission and by doing so they earn their way to heaven or something ludicrous like that

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 17:48

Lol look at this devils, come on guys cheer them up. These are the ones M14 wants to run Lebanon

Thumb FlameCatcher 05 December 2013, 18:01

I know how Hassan likes his Sharia Law ... no different than Saudis.

Now shove your Islamic Resistance in Lebanon (Hezbollah) along with your Saudi ennemies and your double standards where the sun doesn't shine. Shake and Stir and wait for shit to blow.

You are a disgrace to Lebanon !

Thumb Senescence 05 December 2013, 18:07

The video threatening the minister is probably an amateur Lebanese extremist, hence why he was caught quickly, and why it shouldn't be taken all that seriously.

The first video is quite worrisome for Lebanon however, since ISIS (with AlQaida) plan for a Caliphate in the Levant.

I wonder why they made the video though as if they're capable of spreading to Lebanon with any significant strength, since they're quite busy in Syria as it is.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 18:10

This is what i have been saying all along, in all the other comments but moron m14 supporters including Naharnet ignored me and deleted my comments. When Lebanon burns because of these so called Isis(Al Qaeda) I'm not gonna say that i warned you..

Thumb Senescence 05 December 2013, 20:16

blue_street, can we just admit these texts were written during times of war and that parts relating to unreasonable violence be ignored? If God did in fact exist, I don't think it'd advocate what you posted, and it may be a mistranslation or editing by error-prone human beings. If it did advocate such unreasonable acts of violence then I can see why many people do not follow those parts.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 19:53

@Phoenix, then you should let go of the past and think about the future, Christians are getting slaughtered all over the ME. You should support the side that is fighting these takfiris.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 19:57

Why are you against Hezbollah going into Syria Phoenix? Why can't you just admit we are on the same side here? The Lebanese civil war is the past get over it for christ sake. I too want to see the Christians survive in ME without fleeing or being beheaded, i always try to urge christians in Lebanon to wake up before it is too late, first Iraq, Egypt Lebanon will be next.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 19:58

And syrian christians ofcourse are getting massacred. Takfiris don't care about nationalism, if you are christian you just die same goes for alawis druze shia etc even kurdish nationalists too.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 20:43

I agree with you Phoenix, and Syria is not in Lebanon anymore, thats why we should not dwell on the past. We have a common enemy, the takfiris, and they are already in Lebanon and has been so for a long time.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 20:46

But i was happy when Hezbollah decided to intervene in Syria, because do you really think it would end there? It would continue to Lebanon we are a small country indeed, and it is impossible for us not to be dragged into it.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 19:59

It's time for the minorities including moderate sunnis to stick together against the Wahabis.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 20:05

Yes, if you don't like Hezbollah listen to Putin instead, he doesn't love Assad but he rather want Assad instead of the Takfiris taking over the middle east, and by the way. Hezbollah is doing a great difference in Syria too, why do you think Geagea and all the others hates that they intervened?

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 20:13

@Phoenix i know you are a nationalist because you are against both sides mostly, but see the fact that the Takfiris doesn't care about nationalism they only care about Khalifah islamic state coming to the region.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 20:06

Even i have come to terms with the worst enemy isn't Israel anymore, it is indeed the takfiris. And Israel knows just how to play with them

Thumb Senescence 05 December 2013, 20:19

blue_street, I think I've read somewhere that forgiveness is the most noble thing a follower of Islam can do, is that true?

Thumb lebanesenationalist 05 December 2013, 21:22

Lebanon is a country where a Shiite, a Maronite, a Druze, a Sunni, or any other can make a life for themself (you know what I mean, disregard the current economy for a moment).

These takfiris are crazy; they think that if they try to intimidate us, we will do as they wish. Something they don't know: if the Lebanese unite against these people, then not only will we not fall, but we will be a major threat to them. The Lebanese nation is very strong, we just need to put the pieces back together.

Thumb LebCynic 05 December 2013, 21:48

These idiots make hating them so easy. This is what m14 supports, enjoy people.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 22:52

Nope, M14 is actually funding them, but its gonna back clash on them soon enough.

Thumb LebCynic 05 December 2013, 23:13

Thumb stainlessteal 05 December 2013, 22:06

Secular state PLEASE.
I have a dream where takfiri, baathsist, Phoenician nostalgic, wilayat fakih,Atheist,Satanist,Rastafarian,Cheese fanatics can have a tolerant dicourse. That is the only way to prevent the emergence of violence in the long run.

Missing lebanese4life 05 December 2013, 22:13

@tonyfarris Ha wake up there is know FSA they are the weakest right now in Syria. There are only two outcomes in the war in Syria.
1- Bashar stays and life goes back to where it was where everyone lived in unity regardless of religion
0r
2-Wehabbi extremists win and turn syria in an islamic state where they interpret the quran in any way they want and begin killing of the minorities or other who disagree with what they believe in. After that for sure they will spread to lebanon and attempt the same.

Thumb LebCynic 05 December 2013, 23:21

President Bashar will fall? Do you live on the same planet as the rest of us and in the same time dimension? I mean surely you're not trying to make that argument are you? President Bashar will be voted in 2014. The majority of the Syrian people support him, that is the very reason his gained so much during this terror campaign against the people of Syria.

Thumb Mystic 05 December 2013, 23:47

Thats also one of the reason why President assad is still in power, because of the majority that supports him. :)
