The Lebanese army arrested overnight three Syrians carrying light arms and communication devices trying to cross the border through an illegal crossing in the Bekaa Valley, the state-run National News agency reported Sunday.
NNA said the three men were arrested when trying to infiltrate from the northeastern border town of Arsal to the Syrian town of Qara.
Also Sunday, NNA that the army arrested at the Wadi Hmeid checkpoint in Arsal four Syrians, who were carrying arms, bombs, hands grenades and military gear, in the silver Kia they were riding.
Among them is a woman, said the agency.
Later on Sunday, an army statement said “the army checkpoint in the Wadi Hmeid-Arsal area stopped a Kia car carrying no license plates which came from Syrian territory.”
The car was transporting “four Syrian nationals who were not carrying any identification papers and personal firearms and a number of hand grenades were seized in their possession,” the statement added.
“The detainees and the confiscated weapons were referred to the relevant authorities,” it said.
Qara lies in Syria’s mountainous region of Qalamoun, where regime forces have launched an offensive against rebels.
Arsal, a predominantly Sunni area, backs the uprising against Syrian President Bashar Assad.
The town lies 12 kilometers from the border with Syria and has been used as a conduit for weapons and rebels to enter Syria, while also serving as a refuge for people fleeing the conflict.
The town has seen a massive influx of refugees in the past weeks as a result of the heavy fighting in Qalamoun.

ever heard of the army arresting an armed hezbollah person? just saying...

the army should also arrest armed iranians crossing the border. no to double standards.

benzona, we sunnis are not citizens of this country anymore.
And if Bashar wins, tell massacre us, LAF wont protect us...

if u knew what a salafi was, u would know that for them, unlike for the hizbos u praise, kamikaze and c4 belts are haram.
But u're an arrogant ignorant of islam. and u're arrogance won't let u learn. Or u're the one with an agenda if u know it...

I understand that we need to curb the extremism in Arsal. I understand that certain groups may want Assad to win or rebels to win. I think its bad for Tripoli/Arsal/Akkar to be involved in the war. I think its bad for Syrian rebels to be coming back and forth. But I also feel HA should stay the heck out of it too, regardless of whom I want to win. I just don't see how the HA supporters are just pointing fingers at Arsal (although Arsal does have its share of takfiri), when it is doing the same thing. I don't get what makes them better and divine that they deserve to be there and the Sunni don't. Everyone needs to stay the heck out. Sects doing what they do, yields this behavior. As a Christian, we unfortunately have to pick the greater of two sides that both have harmed us. I just don't see the regime kidnapping nuns.

This so called " Cedre " is No Lebanese ......PERIOD !!
He is an implant creating havoc ...
But a stick or two ( which he has received ) on his bottom end has fixed him up , or should I say STITCHED HIM UP !!!!
Another Israeli / Saudi Collaborator has bitting the dust .........
Signed Wolf ....

ft, Laf are no prophets, we've seen them acting sectarian.
Christians, Shias, Druzes fought them in the past.
If LAF is letting Hizbiran go to Syria but blocking sunnis from arsal that means they're siding with Hizb and Bashar.
If LAF disarms sunnis from tabanneh (I'm mean the defenders not the thugs assaulting innocent alawites) but dont speak with thugs from jabal mohssen, then again they're siding with Bashar.
It is pure logic. Sleiman is telling every other day that Hizbos must be disarmed, but doesn't do it for reasons I understand.
I understand as well that arsalis cant sit while their neighbours, cousins in Nabk and qusayrs get killed by hizbis.

@ Peace,
All I could say to you is this :
R.I.P .......
Signed Wolf !

Good job Lebanese Army, btw that so called thorn will be broken soon enough. :)

WHile I applaud the army for preventing few armed men from entering, I can not but shake my head in disappointment at the lopsided enforcement of such. How can we applaud this and yet accept open bordders when it comes to the Syrian Regime and HA crossing the border at will through legal crossing or illegal crossings or even tunnels made for the sole purpose of supplying HA with arms. This upsets me not as a Sunni, or a Christian, or a Derzy, or a Shia...... but it does upset me as a Lebanese.
