Legislative Session Postponed Again over Lack of Quorum

Speaker Nabih Berri postponed a controversial parliamentary session for the 8th time to January 28 over lack of quorum.

The session had 45 items on the agenda.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati and March 14 alliance lawmakers have been boycotting the legislative sessions over claims that the parliament cannot convene under a resigned government.

Miqati resigned in March and Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam was appointed in April. But he has so far failed to form the new cabinet.

The Change and Reform bloc of Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun is also boycotting the sessions that Berri has called for over the speaker's failure to include in the agenda draft-laws proposed by the bloc.

March 14 MP Robert Ghanem, who was among several other lawmakers who attended the session before Berri's announcement, rejected claims that there was a vacuum in state institutions.

“As long as the president hasn't signed the resignation decree, the government has full executive authorities,” he said.

“It should continue to manage the country's affairs and convene when necessary,” Ghanem added.

Lack of Quorum ... hmm

I thought M8 had the majority in parliament !

Is that not the case ?

What are M8 sheep bragging about all the time then ?

Quorum requires half the parliament to be there. If M8 does not represent half the parliament... then please, by all means, step away already and stop bragging about your illusion of a majority.

You do not represent any majority at all !

Actually, Jumblat switched sides and is not allied to M14 in parliament.

But his situation changes every week. It has nothing to do with "educating" one's self... it has to do with Jumblat who changes his mind more often than anyone can catch up.

Speaking of changing minds, Aoun is exactly the same : anti-syrian / pro-syrian. Bashar is a murderer, Bashar is not a murderer. Love Iran, Hate Iran... Love Saudi, Hate Saudi...

That's not centrist ! You cannot apply different political stances in Parliament and Government. It's impossible ... don't fabulate too much.

Either a political party is against or for any given policy. They will not support a policy in GOV and fight against it in Parliament ...

The only one lying is yourself who cannot accept that M8 does not in fact represent the "MAJORITY" of Lebanese and your Government endeavours are a huge failure on your record showing your incapable of running a country with your set of rotten, corrupt and useless puppet politicians!

And where am I lying ? Please illuminate me on my lies ... and avoid contradicting me with your own twisted interpretations of a perfectly clear situation !

Centrist is centrist. You cannot side with M8 in Gov and M14 in parliament as they have opposing views.

In all cases, let's not focus too much on jumby because for all we know, he will be siding with Smurfs soon !

Half + 1 for normal sessions

2/3 for such things as electing a president / amending the constitution ...

We demand parliamentarian elections now. All these people are expired, so is this rotten government. M8 fears being wiped out, and they are right. Neutral people are fed up with them, their corruption and murders.M14 are obviosouly too!
