Iranian nuclear scientist Dariush Rezaei was shot dead on Saturday when unknown assailants riding a motorcycle targeted him in the capital Tehran, local media reported.

"A physics professor and nuclear scientist was assassinated a few hours ago in front of his house in Tehran," Mehr news agency reported at 14:30 GMT.

The ISNA news agency identified the scientist as Dariush Rezaei, 35, an expert with links to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

Mehr said his wife was also wounded in the shooting and rushed to hospital.

According to the agency, Rezaei studied nuclear engineering in Tehran's Amir Kabir University and did research for the AEOI.

Several Iranian nuclear scientists have been murdered in recent years in attacks the Islamic republic has blamed on the United States and Israel, which suspect Iran's atomic program masks a drive for a weapons capability.

Last November 29, Majid Shahriari was killed in the capital when men on motorcycles attached a bomb to his car, while the current nuclear chief Fereydoon Abbasi Davani survived a similar assassination attempt on the same day.

Abbasi Davani had been targeted by U.N. Security Council sanctions under Resolution 1747 adopted in March 2007. He was identified as a senior defense ministry and armed forces logistics scientist.

The PhD holder in nuclear physics is one of the few Iranian specialists who can separate isotopes and has been a member of the elite military force the Revolutionary Guards since the 1979 Islamic revolution, media reports say.

Another senior Iranian nuclear scientist, Masoud Ali Mohammadi, was killed in a bomb attack on January 12, 2010, which Tehran blamed on "mercenaries" in the pay of the US and Israeli intelligence services.

Following the attacks, Tehran vowed to take measures to increase security for its nuclear scientists.

Iran is at loggerheads with the West over its nuclear program, and the last round of talks between Tehran and the world powers broke down in Istanbul in January.

Iran is currently under four sets of U.N. Security Council sanctions over its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment. Several countries, including the United States and the European Union, have also imposed other unilateral punitive measures against Tehran.

Iran, however, remains adamant that it will push ahead with its controversial enrichment activities, which can produce either fuel for a nuclear reactor or the fissile material for an atomic warhead.

Tehran insists it will use the enriched uranium to fuel its future nuclear power plants, and that its atomic program is entirely peaceful.

Nuclear chief Abbasi Davani, targeted by U.N. Security Council sanctions under Resolution 1747 adopted in March 2007, announced in June that Iran plans to triple its capacity to enrich uranium to 20 percent purity.

hmm, is it the Mossad behind all these killings?

Default-user-icon Ace (Guest) 24 July 2011, 01:02

Indeed we need a special tribunal for Iran

I think, this is just another scientist, that was killed by Armadinejab. Same type of stories happened in Russia during the 1980's; blaming USA for killings. Now, we all know Russia committed their own, including recent ones in UK.

The last time I checked STL and UN were both Zionists, should we turn to our brotheren the Syrian Moukhabarat maybe the Iranian scientist hang himself just like Ghazi Kan3an when he was found shot by his own gun so that he won't leak the true killers of Rafik Harriri.

Ado-Australia: Do you have any proof to your allegations ?
It reminds me that I heard that your sister js working as a street girl.
Now prove you have no sister.
Before opening your big mouth and let your finger run freely on the keyboard , cursing others check yourself 1st of all.
Your religion also claims that killing non believers is no crime.

Danny b. Ha'aretz –" Kiryat Arba Chief Rabbi Dov Lior, one of the senior figures of religious Zionism, was arrested Monday after he refused to appear for questioning for his endorsement of the controversial book, “Torat Hamelech,” which justifies killing non-Jews."

This rabbi is one of the spiritual leader for the shas party which Lieberman belongs to. Also, he stated that during conflict, it is permissible to "preemptive killing of gentiles, including children".

Since this new government has been in power, there have been numerous examples of assassinations through out the world including the "suspected Hamas" agent in Dubai. The Mossad used British, Irish and Australian passports to commit murder.

Christianity sanctioned killing of heathens a thousand years ago. Any religion that still does is now called a terrorist, fanatical and religious extremists. Just like al Qaida and the Taliban.

Your problem is that you can't see what Israel is becoming, or has it always been so?

Ado Australia: Are all fingers in your hands same length ? so how can you take an example of a fanatic Rabbi and make him an example for all Israelis
The Arab nation created may haters who declared Jihad against Jews, specially in WWII when Hag Amin El Husseini the Mufti of Jerusalem run with his troops to assist the Nazis.
Till these days you will find those who will make no difference for killing women and children as long they are Jewish as they might grow up and become soldiers.
Ask the Palestinians how many of them justified the massacre of children who were stabbed to death in the settlement named Izhar at west bank.
So don't lecture me as Arabs are well known with their massacres and made no difference weather its children or adults.
You should very well know it as a n ex Lebanese Christian.
I'm sure the reason you immigrated to Australia was no Israel.
The difference is that can find fanatic among our people and not afraid to stand against them and against my government.

Ado-Australia: The problem is that you will find in any religion fanatic people that in the name of God (Weather Christian , Jew or Muslim) they will find justification for killings.
What does the suicide bombers say? Bismilla all in the name of God.
God is not commanding of killing people because of their belief . Its people who are brain washed by their prophets.
