Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat warned on Monday of the weak security situation in Lebanon in light of Sunday's clash in the West Bekaa town of Souairi.

He said in his weekly editorial in the PSP-affiliated al-Anbaa website: “The clash should force officials to adopt calm political rhetoric, organize their disputes, and form a national government that includes all powers.”

“The government must enjoy the greatest possible consensus,” he remarked.

Moreover, he urged officials to refrain from linking Lebanon's fate to that of the developments in Syria.

Jumblat also called for ceasing talk of a so-called de facto cabinet “because it will only serve to complicate political, security, and constitutional affairs.”

“If the Syrian crisis, social and economic problems, case of Syrian refugees, constant Israeli threats, upcoming presidential elections, the Souairi clash, and terrorist bombings are not enough reason to form a new government, then I do not know what it,” lamented Jumblat.

“Why should the Lebanese constantly depend of foreign developments to determine their fate?” he wondered.

“Hasn't Lebanon paid enough over the decades for this dependence?” he asked.

Four people were killed over the weekend in sectarian clashes between the Shouman and Jinbeen families.

The army controlled the situation after the clashes turned fierce between Sunni family Jinbeen and Shiite family Shouman.

In a statement, the army said it carried out raids, detained several suspects and seized arms.

instead of asking for ceasing talks of a de facto cabinet(which des not exist in the constitution) how about you ask your buddies at hizbushaitan to stop threatening?
our constitution state the cabinet is formed by the nominated head of cabinet and the president. nothing else.
so why all the threats?
what happened in this village shows clearly that the Lebanese people have had enough and are willing to fight back these terrorists.

yes, but that resulted in the people of that village taking up arms and kicking them out totally.
hizbushaitan thinks they can continue doing their dirty business, and threaten people: well think again.

It's enough reason to address the core problem : WEAPONS OUTSIDE STATE CONTROL !

All these problems including Israeli aggression are a consequence of Hezbollah's weapons AND other parties, gangs and criminals armed to the teeth.

No weapons, no reason for Israeli or Terrorists to attack ... No weapons, no taking justice into your own hand.

Peace is the only way out for us and peace will come at a huge price of war OR by consensus to disarm ALL parties and surrender weapons. The smallest armed groups will never disarm with the threat of a Hezbollah army in front of them. So you know where to start !
