Report: Hizbullah Moved Parts of Anti-Ship Missile System to Lebanon

W460

U.S. officials believe Hizbullah is smuggling advanced guided-missile systems into Lebanon from Syria piece by piece, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Some components of a powerful anti-ship missile system have already been moved to Lebanon within the past year, including supersonic Yakhont rockets, according to previously undisclosed intelligence.

Yet “to make it lethal, a system needs to be complete," said a senior defense official.

Other systems that could target Israeli aircraft, ships and bases are being stored in expanded weapons depots under Hizbullah control in Syria, the Journal quoted current and former U.S. officials as saying.

They said Iran's elite Quds Force has been directly overseeing the shipments to Hizbullah warehouses in Syria.

As many as 12 anti-ship guided-missile systems may now be in Hizbullah's possession inside Syria, according to U.S. officials briefed on the intelligence.

Israel targeted those Russian-made systems in July and again in October with mixed results, according to U.S. damage assessments.

The officials warned such guided weapons could sharply increase the party's ability to deter Israel in any potential new war.

Hizbullah already has around 100,000 rockets, according to Israeli intelligence estimates, but those are primarily unguided weapons that are less accurate.

Its longer-range rockets are spread across Lebanon, said the Journal.

this is exactly like inviting Israel again to the party!

Yes at all..... it is Lebanon's right and not your shia militia's right, my dear shia brother!

Thumb geha 03 January 2014, 10:13

wrong.
when hizbushaitan has weapons it means the Iranian arm of iran in Lebanon has weapons.

Old news. HA had Yakhont rockets deployed since at least 2006. They used one to hit an Israeli warship during that war.

My Dear Shia brother Flamethrower: Your feeble attempts to defame and tarnish my impeccable online reputation will always prove futile. You don't need to be ashamed of who you are. Social pressures can sometimes lead to undue stress.

Now, the cabinet policy statement was orchestrated by a HA controlled government and earlier under the threat of force. The government is now resigned so is its policy statement. Hence, your sectarian resistance is illegal.

End of Transmission.

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 03 January 2014, 10:22

FT - A Lebanese government referred parts of the telecom network of the Hizb to the Judiciary and HA stormed Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

Thumb ice-man 03 January 2014, 10:24

@Flamethrower.... Insults and profanities in your reply will not earn you respect. It just shows your inability to hold a civil debate. Shame on You!!!!

As to votes and reverse psychology, you should be proud of yourselves. Yesterday, you got 34 votes for merely saying "Saudi Wahabi, I like it". I guess you will win the top spot again this week.

The KSA has unleashed violence throughout MENA and beyond. Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Syria have all seen increasing violence at the hands of Qaeda.

And of course we can not exclude Lebanon which has seen as escalation of bombings and assassinations over the last few weeks. Ali Awadh Asiri's statements mean nothing ...

Thumb _mowaten_ 03 January 2014, 12:07

geha, always one train late. didnt you notice the trumpet was copy pasting and repeating comments from different people?

as for the yakhont, mabrouk, those babies rock. (and unless m14 has battleships, why would they feel threatened by that? it's beyond me, they want HA weakened more than they want lebanon strong)

and rafehh, no it wasnt a yakhont in 2006, it was a C-802

Thumb Mystic 03 January 2014, 13:49

This is nothing compared, to the rest of the weaponry of the resistance. A big war is likely to come, and we are prepared for it.

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 03 January 2014, 14:40

Mowaten - you are right that it was likely a C-802 missile that was used in 2006. FT, you are wrong on 2 counts: the resignation of HA members do not make the cabinet and its decision unconstitutional. There is one body that can do that and that is the constitutional court. The myth about the goverment sending "mercenaries" to dismantle the telecom network is revisionist history and is patently false. There has been attempts by citizens to stop the encroachment of the Hizb network (and their saraya deployment) into their territories but that started before the goverment decision.

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 03 January 2014, 14:50

With regard to why it declared it illegal, it was debated widely. Because noone may operate an open telecom network in lebanon outside the state monopoly. The real reason is that the Hizb knows no bound. After the syrian withdrawal, it expanded from its traditional strongholds and established armed formations all across lebanon without consulting the government. The telecom network is a mean to connect these formations together. In addition, there were always suspicions that the network was used to siphon revenue from government since it interconnected with the regular telephone network. This allows for international call termination via HA network. While the rewards are high, the security risks to HA network would have been high.

Thumb FlameCatcher 03 January 2014, 17:11

@FT : "unconstitutional M14 gvt (with resigned HA ministers) suddenly declared HA's telecom illegal,.... it enforced its illegal decision with 1000 mercenaries from akkar and those were joined by other PSP fighters from choueifat..."

You are a damn liar FT.

1- The network is ILLEGAL whether the government is "constitutional or not" is IRRELEVANT. They have no license to deploy or operate a telecommunication network whatsoever so shove your lies...

2- HEZBOLLAH hit back with their black shirts gorillaz (which you deny belong to the KEZB).

Take your lies and spread them in Dahyé where the GHANAM might just believe you ! I'm warning you though ... The GHANAM are growing brains and growing FED UP with your KEZB!

Thumb cedre 03 January 2014, 09:42

Thumb saturn 03 January 2014, 09:48

Dear Hezbollah, everytime you strike your imaginary enemies, they become real and strike us all. So pretty please, with a cherry on top: you want wars, go fight them elsewhere. Like Syria, good. Iran has vast fields. Israel shouldn't mind a few acres of land. Saudi is a desert, you can spread your wings!

Default-user-icon nir (Guest) 03 January 2014, 22:26

Hey Saturn, leave Israel alone, all in all - a good plane :)
I'm an Israeli, and since we are a democracy for 66 years now, we are as a country are very pragmatic, so war is the last resort. I hope you'll find the courage to fight the devil inside you or it'll eat you from within once again.

Thumb saturn 03 January 2014, 10:53

They will, no doubt, use those rockets against trespassing Syrian aircraft?

Thumb eagle_eye 03 January 2014, 11:04

Where is the EVIDENCE of Hezbollah doing this? Or is this a ploy by the U.S. to cause conflict in Lebanon using Hezbollah as a pawn? Is it right to believe everything the U.S. says?

Thumb ice-man 03 January 2014, 11:16

With en eye such as yours and soaring so high, you should be able to see if your Hizb is smuggling these weapons.

Thumb saturn 03 January 2014, 11:15

There's a new type of aircraft threatening our skies, "The flying Da3shman". That's what the rockets are for.

Thumb smarty 03 January 2014, 13:10

yes it is.

Thumb FlameCatcher 03 January 2014, 13:20

If those weapons are legitimate and "Sanctioned" by the lebanese parliament and government. Why are they smuggled ?

Fact is : all Hezbollah weapons are "unaccounted for" by the Lebanese government. If as some M8 idiots are saying, they are legal, then they should all be declared and registered with the government.

Until then, they are all illegal weapons of a more than illegal militia.

The only reason we need to protect our "Waters" is if Hezbollah invites war to Lebanon once again. A war which will never happen if they had no weapons !

why Israel the country of preamptive strikes with all these info do not react ????.....

Missing peace 03 January 2014, 13:59

what about hezbis asking the people of lebanon their opinion on this if they were truly defending and resisting for them? LOL

if they "resist" in the name of people wouldn't it be fair that people have their say?

as the answer is no it only shows that hezbis work for themselves and certainly not for the people of lebanon.....

Before we get confused as to whether the egg came out first or the chicken, let us clear this, only the Lebanese Armed Forces are allowed to take defense of the country and no one else. Now if we are going to be told that the army is still incapable of filling up this role, then my reply will be, there was a time when the army was perfectly capable of doing its role fully, that time when the PLO was still not around, and now Hezbollah. When politics keep tripping an army, when militias want to tell us indispensable they might be, my answer will remain, you move out of the way, leave the nation to have a real government, and leave the army to do its job, and there'll be no need for anyone to play mini armies and even less, mini states.

To all Hizballah supporters on this site and who are living in the USA... Supporting an evil islamic terrorist group such as Hizballah is not considered "freedom of speech"... You low life hypocrites fled you sh*t holes in Dahieyh, Bekaa, and the South to come and enjoy the best life in the best country in the word, our USA... But yet your loyalty is to Hizballah terrorist group which is as evil as Al Qaeda terrorists... So since you are loyal to these subhumans then better leave the US and go back to the sewers where you came from in Lebanon and live in the trash and your 7th century islamic society in Dahieh, Baalbek and the South, live in misery and poverty...

anonymetexasusa, nah, if they sink a ship, HA will get the same amount of cred as when it downs a fighter jet. It's just easier to do, and at least they have experience in that regard, I suppose. Of course, it won't be good for Lebanon, but hey, who says sinking ships is what this is all about. I'm thinking it's being stored on behalf of the regime.
