1 Dead in Accident on Batroun-Tripoli Highway

One person was killed and another injured in a car crash on the Batroun-Tripoli highway in the North, the state-run National News agency reported on Thursday.

NNA said Kamel Lotfi Kurdi, 34, was killed and Nafez Ahmed al-Merhi was wounded when a truck driver, Abdullah al-Ghrawi, hit their Mercedes.

The accident took place near al-Msaylha fort, the agency said.

Al-Merhi was taken to Batroun hospital while al-Ghrawi was arrested, NNA added.

Also Thursday, a 25-year-old Palestinian woman was killed when she was hit by a pick-up truck in the southern city of Tyre, the agency said.

Manar al-Mahboub's body was taken to Jabal Amel hospital while the driver identified as Khalil Mohammed al-Hajj was arrested for questioning, it added.
