Unknown assailants opened fire at two trucks on the Abu Ali roundabout in the northern city of Tripoli on Thursday, accidentally wounding a girl.

The state-run National News Agency noted that the trucks carried Syrian license plates.

NNA identified the girl as Nehmat Bahaaeddine Abbas, adding that she was transferred to the Islamic Hospital in the area for treatment.

“The army soon intervened and troops are currently persecuting the shooters,” NNA said.

Meanwhile, Radio Voice of Lebanon (100.5) said the army deployed patrols in the area.

On November 25, 2013, a driver was injured when several Syrian trucks came under fire also in Tripoli.

Syria-bound trucks have come under attack in recent months mainly in the Tripoli neighborhood of Bab al-Tabbaneh, where residents staunchly support the uprising in the neighboring country.

The attackers argue that the fuel is destined to the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad to kill the Syrian people.
