Geagea: No Final Stance Yet on Participation in All-Embracing Cabinet

Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea said Saturday that the March 14 alliance hasn't yet decided whether it would participate in a 24-member national unity government.

In remarks to al-Jadeed TV, Geagea said: “We haven't yet decided on our participation in an 8-8-8 cabinet.”

There has been a flurry of political activity in the past days to win the approval of the March 14 alliance to participate in a cabinet in which it would get eight ministers similar to March 8 and centrists.

But reports said Saturday that Geagea had rejected to have ministers in a government in which Hizbullah has representatives.

His ally al-Mustaqbal movement leader ex-PM Saad Hariri held a one-hour telephone conversation with him on Friday.

But Geagea told al-Jadeed that Hariri hasn't yet taken a final decision on the March 14 alliance's participation in the 8-8-8 cabinet and did not try to convince him to do so.

“Consultations on the formation of the government are going,” the LF chief added.

President Michel Suleiman said Friday that Hariri had sent “positive signals” on accepting the 8-8-8 formula.

But he hinted that he would sign a decree to form a non partisan cabinet, which the March 8 alliance describes as a de facto government, before the end of the month if the rival parties failed to reach consensus on the new proposal.

I am sure that Dr. Geagea will have the assurances he desires regarding HA involvement in Syria or the policy statement before he joins any government. Something for sure is being cooked.

We all are craving for a government, yet our only choice against the hegemony of Hizbullah is boycott any government with the presence of terrorist hizbullah.

I am sure this new wonder government will stop the war in Syria and the recent bombings and assassinations.

The so called Lebanese government is a joke... The entire country of Lebanon is controlled by only one side and that is Hizballah terrorists... Forming a government means absolutely nothing when Hizballah terrorists can kill anyone and destroy anything whenever they want and no one inside Lebanon can stop them... There is no hope for Lebanon as long as it is totally controlled by Hizballah terrorists...

Agree with you and add. During the municipal elections in the south, they did not only wipe out the christian representation when they had the 2/3 of the vote ... they did it with almost all other sects fractions even if they were "Chi3a" they simply tried to dominate and not let any other than Ghiz-Ebola and Amal (in some cases)inlist for elections, join their lists or even let them exist in any local or political level... So Ghiz-Ebola, The cancer, did what they want and still to Eliminate the voice of Dr Geaga all the way and tried to make President Bachir killers as Saints ... like always.

Yup. Keep the pressure on Hezb. Their game is up. Enough about the tabu that Hezb's is untouchable. They are the cancer in Lebanon. I'd love to see a government WITHOUT Hezb. Let them play opposition in the Parliament like any other civilized country. Can they?
