Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam held talks with head of al-Mustaqbal Parliamentary bloc MP Fouad Saniora as optimism loomed over the formation of an all-embracing cabinet

The meeting between the two officials on Monday night focused on the latest developments regarding the cabinet formation process.

The government formation process has witnessed an intensified a political activity in an attempt to end the standstill since Salam was appointed in April.

The cabinet formation process was put on the front burner after Speaker Nabih Berri proposed a revised 8-8-8 government formula and President Michel Suleiman said he would form a so-called neutral cabinet if the political rivals don't agree on an all-embracing government within ten days.

Amid the Lebanese Forces' rejection of Hizbullah's participation in the cabinet, the March 14 camp has reportedly accepted the 8-8-8 formula in principle, but it is awaiting answers pertaining to the ministerial policy statement and the rotation of portfolios among political parties.

The 8-8-8 formula divides ministers equally between the centrists and March 14 and 8 alliances, in which each get eight ministers with “decisive ministers” for the March 14 and 8 coalitions.

There will most probably be a deal. Lebanese bankers are running out of fingers to plug the holes in Lebanon's budget. The last scenario either party wants right now is a currency collapse that would almost certainly lead to economic deprivation and yet another civil war.

M14 has pushed Lebanon to the edge of the abyss through obstructionism of governance while their KSA paymasters set off car bombs right and left in Beirut and southern Lebanon. Syria is exploding into mass chaos with many contingents fighting one another leaving no scenario for M14.

NATO, Russia, China and many other countries are going to put a stop to Caliphates that train terrorists that could easily be infiltrated back into their countries. This means that ISIS and ISIL will have to be totally annihilated which will take some years.

@mckinl, I missed you! Where have you been my dear friend?

Back to business: are we heading towards the Abyss or what? Any news from the IMF? I invested all my savings in futures on the Qom stock market.

" are we heading towards the Abyss or what?"

Should there not be an agreement on the cabinet this scenario will be tested almost immediately ...

Southern, I honestly don't want to sound as if I disrespected your views, or the side that you support. You're talking of democracy, but honestly brother, does Hezbollah believe in it? Or the M8 lackeys that follow it so blindly? OK, here's why I am putting this question to you. In the past years, we've all seen how Saad Hariri and his M14 coalition won two straight consecutive elections. Sayed Hassan even admitted and conceded defeat, right here, on public TV, yet a little later recanted his so-thought noble position only to stand form in wanting Hariri form a coalition government instead of his constitutional right to form a cabinet made entirely of his own coalition, that is the M14 one. Twice, and twice Sayed Hassan forced Hariri into a humiliating compromise, when for all I know Saad Hariri could have legally formed his own cabinet. Just two glaring examples dear Southern as to why I am doubtful of your words on democracy. Maybe Theocracy would define your position best.

OK Southern, I agree here with you, it's perfectly sound what you said. Thanks for clearing it.
