Jumblat Hopes All Sides Would Cooperate with Hariri's Initiative on Forming Cabinet

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat hailed former Prime Minister Saad Hariri's recent position in which he said that he would not be opposed to taking part in a cabinet that includes Hizbullah as a political party, reported As Safir newspaper on Saturday.

He told the daily: “We hope all sides would cooperate with Hariri's initiative in order to form an all-embracing government.”

He also remarked that the initiative should serve “to open news possibilities” in the cabinet formation process.

Meanwhile, caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour told the daily that the MP is continuing his “intense” contacts with President Michel Suleiman, Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam, head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora, and Hizbullah leaderships “in order to reach a final agreement on a government lineup.”

He highlighted Hariri's recent stance, saying that it should serve to speed up these efforts.

Discussions are focusing on the distribution of power and portfolios, “which are largely being left to Suleiman and Salam's wishes,” revealed the minister.

Hariri announced on Friday that he is showing positivity in the cabinet formation process, noting that Hizbullah is a political party that is leading a “big coalition.”

He noted that he has not offered “concessions” concerning participation in a cabinet containing Hizbullah and its allies, stressing that “according to the principle of trials, any accused is innocent until proven guilty.”

He made his reference to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon whose trial of four Hizbullah members opened this week.

Berri and joumblat need to watch out and remember that we do not accept hizbushaitan trilogy of people/resistance/army, and they have to abide effectively by the Baabda accord.

Palestenian camps should be disarmed of course as the national dialogue agreed on disarming military camps outside palestinian camps for a start few years ago but unfortunately so lebanese party didnot stick to the word and protected gebril and co.... Guess who?
Baaba declaration was adopted by all but certain political parties (again) did refuted it after... Again guess who...
As long as hezbos are in syria and as long as they didnot retriet (aka baabda declaration) hariri shouldnot fall in the trap, if he does the hell with him and all march 14..... I'll just go vote march 8 next time and hope any patriotic lebanese would do the same (yes we are not sheeps..)

Missing imagine_1979 18 January 2014, 09:54

And please stop with resistance retoric, true patriotic resistants were assassinated by hezbollah and co to take control over south lebanon and were forced to stop resistance work(despite comunists still conducted operations till 2000 with Number of them being killed before reaching the frontiers and others on their way back and that was georges hawi saying on national tv so not some stories i am making...), so please be honest call them islamic resistance (their official name) or hezbollah...
Ant good morning mcknil, chupachups?...

Missing imagine_1979 18 January 2014, 10:03

“according to the principle of trials, any accused is innocent until proven guilty.”… well Mr Jumblat what happens if they are proven guilty? Most likely nothing since Nasrallah has proclaimed the STL as an Israeli tool and all the evidence is fake. So the militia will do all they can to force their BS slogan down everyones throat.

Missing imagine_1979 18 January 2014, 10:06

Jumblat is afraid of hezbollah (11 ayar when mont lebanon residents stood alone against hezbos) then black shirts... Anyway he has his own fears.. But we cannot live in fear.... We have the right for a democratic country where all are equals under the law....
Plus once for u general pupet, i'm sick of those concesions to....

@ general_puppet & imagine_1979

The time is now for all parties and sects to dramatically reassess their positions for the good of Lebanon.

The vast majority of Lebanese do not buy into your hatred that would only lead to more violence and economic turmoil.

The vast majority of Lebanese want to turn the situation around to prosperity and peace not continue to destroy Lebanon and their families.

Again: I am a secular person, so shia, suni, christians.. All are the same for me (and should be equals in rights and duty...) so please cut off the crap about hatery...
And what did hezbos do? They are still in syria, they still don't want to raise the issue of their arms, they want the blockade third in cabinet (aka they want to approve who president suleyman chooses), the still don't want to send the suspect to STL... So what concession have they (hezbos) done?
Please cut off the crap man... Not from early morning... Go get a chupachups.

@mckinl: Why do you think the Pope rebuffed Aoun's request for an audience with his Holiness?

It is time for a government to be formed and stop the mascaraed. Lebanon has to have afterwards a strong president that will elevate it to the norms it deserves to be in.
