Aoun Meets al-Rahi: We Support Bkirki Treaty Because it Embodies Lebanon's Principles

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun announced on Sunday his support for the recently-declared Bkirki treaty, saying that he will see that it is implemented.

He said: “We want to help implement it because it embodies the principles that Lebanon was built upon.”

“These principles believe in stability and prosperity,” he remarked after holding talks at Bkirki with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi ahead of the Saint Maroun feast day mass.

He added that he will not be issuing any further statements, saying that he will make political stances after his Change and Reform bloc's weekly meeting on Tuesday.

For his part, al-Rahi stressed during the mass the importance of the Bkirki treaty that was announced earlier this week.

He emphasized the need to adhere to the constitution, preserving national principles, and realizing the dangers facing Lebanon.

“Priorities should be set in order to properly tackle Lebanon's future,” he explained.

The treaty calls for holding the presidential elections on time, forming a new government, and protecting Lebanon from regional unrest.

Well said @Jaafar !! Allah yihmik for exposing their lies. I commend you for having the perseverance to educate those who are thicker than a brick wall. When one has no argument, they always tend to give it a sectarian outlook to provoke bi-polar reactions.

@Jaafar: I ask you to refrain from insulting your fellow posters as it adds no value to your already useless arguments. Any attack on @PJ is considered a personal attack on @ice-man and as such there will be severe consequences.

Thumb lebanon_first 09 February 2014, 13:54

FT. Please have respect for the thousands of LF who died resisting against syrian and palestinian occupation of Lebanon in the 80s, and whose blood permitted us to have a country called lebanon today in spite of the machiavellian will of the international community and the ignorance of our moslem brothers who sided against us.
Without those LF and kataeb heroes, there wouldnt be a lebanon today for HA to pretend to "resist" for.

We are often asked where do we stand of the Bkirki Treaty. Well, before we can support it we have to send it to Iran for approval. First it will be translated from Maronite Lebanese to Islamic empire Persian. Then a bunch of legitimate Marjaas will check if it opposes spreading Ayatollah Khomeini's global Islamic revolution, a red line. And it will be studied to see if it conforms with their understanding of fundamental Islamic law and if the treaty is lenient on respecting the Lebanese's border clause as they think it's temporary as per the one borderless Islamic nation under the Supreme Leader and Ruler of the Times. After the real Marajeh thoroughly study it, it will be sent with their recommendations for the Supreme Leader and phony baloney Marjaa to speak the final ruling on if we should accept it or not. Also even if we are commended to accept the Bkirki Treaty we reserve the right to recant anytime in rhe future for no reason at all if so decides the Ruler of the Times.

period !… period !… dr.jaajaa are you trying to tell us you are having a period ?

Thumb beiruti 09 February 2014, 19:46

Nice to see Aoun and Hariri agreeing on something -- giving lip service to the "Bkerki Treaty", which both knows is a document full of platitudes that will never move from the paper on which it is written.
In a nation that honors those who are artists in the fine practice of bull shitting, this is a supreme act of bull shitting.
Patriarch Rai must be very pleased that Aoun has promised to personally undertake implementation of his treaty.

Thumb general_puppet 09 February 2014, 20:13

I stand corrected. He supported the Bkirki treaty. I hope this verbal support on his side and that of m14 will translate into concrete steps to build a modern, strong and free Lebanon.
