Suleiman Heads Security-Judicial Meeting in Baabda, Urges Swift Formation of Cabinet

President Michel Suleiman stressed on Thursday the importance of the ongoing security efforts to unveil the terrorist networks on Lebanese territories, praising the endeavors exerted by the army intelligence in this regard.

He expressed hope that the rival politicians would realize the delicacy of the stage that Lebanon is passing through and that they would cooperate to form a new cabinet.

Suleiman's statements were issued during a security-judicial meeting at the Baabda Palace.

The President discussed with the participants the security achievement carried out by the army and its role in putting an end to all extremist cells plotting to target Lebanon and its stability and the judicial measures accompanying such accomplishments.

The attendants agreed on the importance of cooperation between the various security agencies and its readiness to bust offenders to safeguard Lebanon.

The meeting was attended by Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati, Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, Caretaker Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi, Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji and several security and military officials.

On Wednesday, the army announced the arrest of a Palestinian leader in the Qaida-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades and seizing two booby-trapped cars in Beirut and the Bekaa.

Naim Abbas is described as the group's number two man in Lebanon.

The army's endeavors were applauded by all Lebanese officials.
