The Lebanon First parliamentary bloc is planning to send a petition to U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon to ask him to refer all assassinations committed in Lebanon after Dec.12, 2005 to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

The petition has been drafted and is awaiting the signature of the bloc's members, An Nahar newspaper reported on Friday.

The daily said that the petition includes a request for the STL to also probe the latest assassination against former finance Minister Mohammed Shatah.

It also stresses that the STL should deal with the crimes to stop the series of assassinations that have rocked Lebanon, An Nahar added.

The U.N.-backed STL, which was set up to try the killers of former Premier Rafik Hariri, announced earlier this month that it was adding a fifth suspect to the trial of four Hizbullah members accused of his Feb. 2005 murder.

The four - Mustafa Badreddine, Salim Ayyash, Hussein Oneissi, Assad Sabra - went on trial in absentia before the tribunal last month for the massive suicide truck bombing that killed Hariri.

The fifth suspect, Hassan Habib Merhi, also an alleged Hizbullah member, was indicted last year.

happy that those cases are going to benefit from the special "STL treatment"? ie: cost hundreds of millions, take decades, and reach no results?
