Young men belonging to “March 8 political parties” on Sunday attacked the house of former environment minister Mohammed Rahhal, a member of al-Mustaqbal Movement, in the western Bekaa town of Jib Janine, An Nahar newspaper reported.

It said the mob threatened to kill the ex-minister and only dispersed when an army force arrived at the house.

“A group of young men belonging to March 8 parties attacked the house of former minister Mohammed Rahhal in Jib Janine, hurled a hand grenade outside the house and smashed a number of cars that were parked outside the building,” An Nahar said.

Rahhal told the newspaper that what happened on Sunday was not a new development.

“Since around a month ago, young men have been attacking my house and threatening to kill me,” he said.

“But today's incident crossed all limits after around 30 to 40 young men, including Syrians, opened fire in the vicinity of the house and tossed a hand grenade whose blast sound sparked panic among the members of my family,” Rahhal added.

He said even after contacting the Internal Security Forces, “these young men were not deterred.”

“They pledged to murder me and launched insults against me and my family whole the ISF and army were trying to rein them in,” Rahhal went on to say.

In remarks to Future TV, the former minister announced that he will file a lawsuit against “the well-known attackers.”

Afternoon Gentlemen;

I can only guess that if there was an attack, it would have to be because of his location. The Bekaa is a rough time right now. There is only one way to solve this issue. Well, three, actually:

1.) If this is true: The ISF and LAF must confirm the story.
2.) If they confirm: arrest the criminals. If not confirmed: Make a press release stating so.
3.) Charge the Ex-Minister for making false charges.

Let's see how the ISF and LAF will report this.

Dispersed is not an acceptable outcome. They should be rounded up and throwen in jail with few takfiris so they can have a party together.

March 8's Sheep idea of politics : VIOLENCE, MURDER !

Arguments = bullets and grenades !

Protests = burning tires & blocking roads.

How can you involve such lowlife filth and their leaders that "inspire" them in government ???

This new cabinet is intended to bridge our differences, and start the road to healing between all the Lebanese. Only our unity will save us, only our determination to uphold the peace and the law will lead us to a better tomorrow. yes, and absolutely yes, the army and the ISF must secure the nation from these heinous acts, but also, not that partisans of M8 are taking matters once again into their hands, then the leadership of M8 parties must also show their seriousness in keeping such loath-able elements under check. As of now, it is incumbent on every single party, to understand beyond the slightest shadow of a doubt, that Lebanon cannot be tampered with anymore, everyone has a role to play, let us all then play it with Lebanon at heart. Anything else or less is a shortcoming.
