Hollywood star and U.N. refugee agency envoy Angelina Jolie met orphaned Syrian refugee children in Lebanon and called for an end to the war across the border, the UNHCR said Monday

Syria's nearly three-year war reportedly killed more than 140,00 Syrians and forced millions to flee, most of them to neighboring countries like Lebanon.

Jolie said meeting with orphaned Syrian children in the eastern Bekaa Valley was a "heart-rending experience" and thanked Lebanon for assisting Syrian refugees, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees said in statement.

"They have lost their families and their childhood has been hijacked by war. They are so young, yet they are bearing the burdens of their reality as if they are adults," it quoted Jolie as saying.

Lebanon hosts nearly one million Syrians, most of them women and children.

Jolie also welcomed a U.N. Security Council aid resolution adopted on Saturday as "a long overdue step in the right direction for the hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrian men, women and children trapped in hard to reach areas across Syria."

She voiced hope that the resolution would be "the start of a new phase in ending the conflict."

The UNHCR goodwill ambassador also urged the international community to provide funds to help Lebanon cope with the refugee crisis which has exacerbated its own limited resources.

"The generosity and solidarity shown by Lebanon and Lebanese to its neighbor serves as an example to the world for which we should all be grateful. We all need to help them bear this burden", said Jolie.

She also held talks during her trip with Prime Minister Tammam Salam at the Grand Serail.

This was Jolie's third visit to Lebanon on behalf of UNHCR.

no my dear, in resistance to invaders who want to massacre your people and expel them to breed more of their nasty haredi, killing is a duty.

Thumb immortal 24 February 2014, 18:45

mowaten dear, killing is a sin that's it, no amendment. Your lame argument was used previously by Saad Haddad but with nasty Palestinians instead of nasty haredi. BTW any idea who were you killing in Bosnia, no nasty haredi breading there and your people don't live anywhere near the place.

pairadice: if she wants to come and pose for pictures, a7lan w sa7lan, but dont start imagining she is the only one to help, far from that. and don't give lessons when i'm pretty sure i've done more for syrian refugees, especially children, than you ever did or will.

Thank you Angelina, for remembering the less fortunate, even if briefly, those little ones you reached out to were made happy.

Jolie, your country's policies have created, and by intention I may add, millions of refugees around the world for the purpose of destroying nations and cultures and to generate a mixing of people in order to advance the goal of a Zionist agenda. Do your self a favour and stay home and protest your governments policies instead of advancing it by promoting the adopting of third world children.

Thank you Ms. Jolie for bringing the Syrian refugee crisis in center attention and under the spot light. The American people and the rest of the civilized world must be educated re. both the victims and the perpetrators from both sides so the the people demand from their governments to intervene.
