Mashnouq Closes Bir Hassan Gas Stations over Terrorist Attack Reports

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq ordered on Saturday the closure of the gas distribution stations in the Bir Hassan area in Beirut after investigations with detained extremists revealed that the spot could be a target of a terrorist attack, the state-run National News Agency said.

The ministry issued a statement saying that investigations with some extremist detainees revealed that two gas stations in the area could be targeted by suicide-bombers.

Immediately, al-Mashnouq instructed the stations' closure starting Monday the 3rd of March, until the whole stock is emptied.

“Our measures come in the framework of the residents' safety until we are capable to provide better security measures to control such acts,” said al-Mashnouq.

The statement pointed out that the gas stations in the Choueifat and Dora (in Beirut's southern and northern suburbs respectively) will supply the material for the areas of Beirut and of the Dahieh neighborhood.

Later on Saturday, LBCI television said that top official in al-Qaida-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades Naiim Abbas confessed during investigations that February's suicide attack in Choueifat was actually planned to take place in Bir Hassan's gas distribution station.

this sounds fishy, if the stations are closed terrorists can still target any other spot with high concentration of people. is he going to order the closure of all businesses in dahiyeh? what next? evacuate the suburbs?
i wonder if that mashnouk or any of his relatives have gas stations near the area, good way of shutting out the competition. whatever economic damage the terrorists caused in dahiyeh, mustahbal is continuing.

Mustaqbal made a mistake agreeing to share a government with the terror party. Let them clean their own mess and be held responsible for what they created.

@Mowaten, with all due respect, i dont think you are seeing clearly here. you have a point of view i must say, but personnally i know people that are close to Mashnouq, and this guy is not bad at all. I dont think it is because he has gas stations or whatever because if it would be an attempt to play this game, Hezbollah would be easily willing to go down on the streets or maybe not Hezbollah, but mostly the uncivilised AMAL militiamen. ( although im totally against many policies of Hezbollah, im still sure it wasn't them on may 7th that were on the streets, rather AMAL reminents).

@ Mowaten, another important thing, closing gas stations is possibly one way of reducing damage, imagine a bomb goes off near a gas station, that would be desastruous. The only way to defeat takfiri terrorists would be to destroy them at the source. Meaning two things. control the border better, or hit where they are originally coming from (Saudi Arabia). If Hezbollah is so strong and says it is able to defeat the zionist and the usual bs, it should try to engage Saudi Arabia secretly by sending its fighters do the same there. I know the Hezb has 5000 at least kamikaze , so to not forget the bombing of the US marines and others in 82. They are capable of extremism as well. Fight fire with fire, unless they are scared to act directly? hek hek there are poor young man dying fighting in syria by thousands. At least make it worth it
