Head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora stressed on Friday that the March 14 forces will remain committed to the authority of the state throughout all of its endeavors, while highlighting the values of democracy and dialogue.

He said: “Our hand is extended to the other camp only under the authority of the state.”

He made his remarks in a speech during the March 14 camp's commemoration of the ninth anniversary of the “Independence Uprising” at the BIEL exhibition center in Beirut.

“Nine years ago, the Lebanese people did not hesitate in resisting oppression,” he said.

“Lebanon will remain and tyrants will be defeated,” he added.

"Lebanon will remain through its civil peace and mutual coexistence, while the criminals' days are numbered," said the former premier.

“On this day, we remember our martyrs, starting with former Premier Rafik Hariri and ending with Minister Mohammed Chatah,” Saniora continued.

“We all share the same fate and we are bound by the same system of rule,” he said, while denouncing Sunni and Shiite fundamentalism.

Commenting on claims of division among the March 14 ranks, the MP stated: “We may have different approaches, but our ranks will not be divided. Coexistence and democracy bind us.”

Moreover, he explained: “Despite the hardships, we never wielded weapons against the other.”

“We reject violence and will remain committed to dialogue. Our hand will remain extended to the other,” he stressed in reference to the rival March 8 camp, led by Hizbullah.

Addressing Hizbullah's involvement in the conflict in Syria, Saniora urged the party to withdraw its fighters to spare the Lebanese people further misery.

“Those who liberated the South should not get embroiled in battles that they have nothing to do with,” he declared, while emphasizing the need to respect the Baabda Declaration.

"We will resist Israel through all legitimate means," he stated.

patriot congratulations. You graduated from one liners to writing 2 full lines of text. That is good progress.

Your content however is still tremendously lacking. You are not in high school anymore trying to court HA, the school bully.

Your HA is an accident of history. An anomaly. His only legitimacy is that he was elected by the uneducated amongst the Shia because he bought their votes with services. That is all there is to this little HA thing.

Lebanon is the only country where an x-politician still acts like a politician.

what did rafehi ask or propose ?
He just wants HA-infested state institutions to stop oppression of sunnis supporting the rebels...

Thumb lebanon_first 14 March 2014, 19:17

rafehi sees lebanon as part of a global sunni umma whose next battle is yabroud- the lebanese state is secondary for him.

Seniora sees lebanon as a lebano-lebanese state. He wants to build a state with his shia and christian partners.

Thumb lebanon_first 14 March 2014, 21:49

Cedre the difference is subtle.

i did not say that rafehi does not recognize the lebanese state. I said that when he calls the lebanese sunnis to do JIHAD for a foreign country, he is putting the lebanese state as secondary to his umma.- as opposed to Siniora for example who thinks of lebanon.

As for Suleiman, he is putting a POLITICAL effort to free the nuns (some of them are lebanese by hte way)- he never called for christians of lebanon to take weapons and call for jihad.

The veiled threat of terrorism and oppression at gunpoint coupled with 24/7 propaganda and indoctrination will no longer dissuade us from our dreams of freedom and democracy. You seem like a moral and God fearing person, please stop supporting a party that claims to be the Party of God on earth and instead of spreading his word they kill in his name.

You stupid women you just gave out all our plans for control and domination and the real reason we keep our arms, establishing the Iranian Islamic Republic's province by the Mediterranean! Dammit how many times did I tell the front office not to tell women anything, they are nothing but baby making machines! Hell in 2006 we could not even use then as human shields, at the least sign of trouble they packed up and rushed north. There is a reason the Ayatollah forbids us to shake their hands it's because of the all diseases they inherently carry!

When Fouad l'Israelien Saniora talks about extending his hand to the other he means by other his Israeli masters and commanders. Arrest the traitor and collaborator and hang him by his crooked lips ASAP.
