A list backed by the March 14 forces won the elections of the Order of Engineers and Architects of Tripoli on Sunday as the rival political camps resorted to a consensus list in Beirut to avoid a heated electoral battle.

Marios al-Baaini of the Lebanese Forces was elected as the head of the Tripoli order amid the victory of four members belonging to the al-Mustaqbal movement, the Jamaa Islamiya and the Kataeb party. An “incomplete” list backed by the March 8 forces ran in the elections, according to the National News Agency.

Meanwhile in Beirut, a low-intensity vote was held after March 8 and March 14 agreed on a consensus list led by Mustaqbal's Khaled Shehab.

The list comprised five members belonging to Hizbullah, AMAL Movement, Free Patriotic Movement, LF and the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects (al-Ahbash), amid the withdrawal of the Progressive Socialist Party's candidate.

“Through the consensus, we and the engineers sought to strengthen the atmosphere of calm and avoid the tensions that could have been stirred by any electoral battle,” Mustaqbal bloc MP Mohammed al-Hajjar announced on Sunday.

the head of the order in tripoli is from march 14 camp, the head of the order in beirut is from march 14 camp; meaning, the march 8 folks rallied with the march 14 camp to avoid a humiliating defeat.
once more march 14 won yet another decisive popular vote while leaving the 8th of march camp some room to breathe. this is not corruption this is democracy at best.
