European Diplomats Warn of Possible Israeli War on Lebanon Next Month

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

European diplomatic sources did not rule out an Israeli aggression on Lebanon in September warning the Jewish state could target state institutions, including Lebanese army barracks.

The sources told An Nahar daily published Friday that the new Israeli war would not only target Hizbullah arms depots and officials but also hit the water and electricity sectors and army positions.

European countries that have contingents in UNIFIL have received such info, the sources said.

Tel Aviv has drawn an efficient military plan that would guarantee a success in any new confrontation with Hizbullah, they told the newspaper.

The alleged war would be aimed at thwarting Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ determination to go ahead with the U.N. membership bid.

The Israeli government strongly rejects such a move and is making attempts to lure the Palestinians back into peace talks based on the 1967 borders if they abandon the U.N. membership campaign.

There are no guarantees in war except death... That goes for Israel as well.

You may keep Jerusalem and rest of the dump hole Palestine as long as you leave Lebanon in peace. We have our own problems with a-holes in the government, militias and other dement clowns ruining the country.

What a journalism ...Diplomatic sources? who are exactly the diplomats? and what credibility do they have.
Israel will react only if hostility will start from other side of fence. Most of Lebanese knows it. same in 2006, you can blame Israel as much you like to we all know how did it start ? the killing of Israeli soldiers was in Israeli land same with the kidnap of 2 soldiers from Israeli land to Lebanese.
Blood of Lebanese and Israeli victims are in the hands of Hizballa and the Lebanese government who did not avoid from armed terror groups to act from Lebanese land against Israel.
We all know who finally pay the price,
If Israeli Lebanese border will remain calm there will be no Israeli attack,

Only idiots want to make wars.

We wish that everything will be great to everyone.

And Danny: In absence of hostility from the other side, Israel is a master of provoking one: the recent incursions by the land-forces into sovereign Lebanese territory are just one such example; the reduction of security measures for patrols on the Lebanese-Israeli border as of May 2006 is another form of baiting. And since Hizb-Nasrallah make no effort to hide the fact that they're power-lusting opportunists, Tel Aviv can at least count on them to take whatever bait is brandished before them. As a matter of fact, I believe that the Israeli decision to wage a war of coercion against Mahmoud Abbas via Lebanon has been taken a long time ago, but has been put on pause for the moment because Tel Aviv is very well aware that it may hamper the deposing of Assad in our sisterly Syria, which opportunity is too great and rare for them to screw up...

Now, ya Shab: Though I agree with your position overall (not just on this article), you have to remember that what with all of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and their arms (which more often than not nowadays are extremely closely linked to those of the Hizb), the Palestinian question is fundamentally linked to Lebanon. It would be in Lebanon's interest that Palestine gains sovereignty as a Nation and that we can repatriate their people home and we may reclaim large swathes of our own land back for us and our descendants. Of course, should such a glad event happen, it would also help Hizb-Nasrallah lose their legitimacy as a "resistance" movement, so I'm sure el-Sayyed is siding a lot closer with Nothin'yahoo than with Abu-Mazen on this one.

Thumb Marc 12 August 2011, 14:00

Every military analysts predicted round 2 between Israel and HA after 2006! I do hope not but do agree with that. Unless all the arms become under the control of the Lebanese Army and central government, things could turn ugly for all of us. JMO

Akh; one of those lousy days again where the only person I agree with is one I generally don't see eye to eye with. Ado, good quote.
Now, first of all: Asaf: When where you born, remind me? Tel Aviv is not a sovereign country, but it is the capital of Israel, where the government that takes decisions for the country is centred. Just like for their respective countries is Washington, Moscow, Beijing or Damascus. In Lebanon we rarely say "Beirut" as the seat of the government, or even "Baabda", but we do say "Rabieh", "Qraytem", and so forth.
"Secondly": Really kid, when where you born? Is it just today that Lebanon has become a field for foreign countries to pass messages to each other? And today, with a Hizb-Nasrallah government in power, any messages passing from Tel Aviv to Ramallah via Lebanon are put on amplifiers.

The Zionist will have to get the Mossad infested Iranian Shiite terrorist Hezb to give them a pretext. Hassan will tell us that if he knew he would not have started it as his country is being bombed, his people killed and he hides in the sewers.

Asaf... No country, with the exception of Guatemala and El Salvador, recognizes Jerusalem as the Capitol of Israel. All embassies are located in tel aviv, which is the internationally recognized capitol. This is probably not taught in your schools.

Thumb ado.australia 13 August 2011, 04:20

Asaf... No one refuses to acknowledge reality like the Israelis. You a living in a fairy dream world, if you think Jerusalem is the undivided Capitol of the Jews. The reality is, that a recent CIA report states it's unlikely for Israel to survive another 20 years unless permanent lasting peace is achieved. 2 options are a 2 state solution now, from 1967 borders, with no exceptions and returning and solution to the refugees. Or 2nd option that I personally prefer, is that there is a 1 state solution from Mediterranean to jordan river, were all palestinians and Jews are all the same citizen, same rights under same laws, 1 person, 1 vote. Which includes the refugee right to return.

This is your reality, which will hurt you (Israel) the longer you refuse to acknowledge.

Ado-Australian. Well thanks for giving Israel additional 20 years to exist.
Well, we here those stories (or your wishful thinking? ) for over than 2,500 years. How many efforts the Jew / Israeli haters did and still we exist.
We Survived pogroms, conquests, we survived the Inquisition, we survived the attempts to convert to Christianity Muslim whatever , survived the German killing machine and holocaust, we survived the extermination efforts of the Arab countries, survived wars imposed upon us and we will continue to survive despite your hopes and your friends' efforts to liquidate us. We were here long before Lebanon and remain far behind.
We were here when there were so called Amalekites, Babylonians, Assyrians, Ammonites, Hittites, Fliistim, Phoenicians, Greeks, Persians and others. Where are all those peoples? Disappeared in the wind.
So continue to pray for our destruction, it just shows how Arabs were left behind. continue killing each other as you do with great success.

Thumb ado.australia 13 August 2011, 11:48

Danny b, of course you must jump to the age old defense of anti semtic Jew haters. I did not link the end of the status quo of the Israeli occupation, to the liquidation of the Jewish religion and peoples from the face of the earth! Answer me this question Danny. Are Jews a race or religion? Are the Jews that were expelled by the Romans 2000 years ago, related to you?

Asaf, no one can deny the strength of belief and determination the Jews showed in the those early years against a bunch of rag tag, camel riding, tent dwellers. But times change, and whether its 10, 20 or another 60 years, the status quo, of a Zionist state that occupies and suppresses the Palestinian population will not survive for ever.Foreign support is dwindling and the rise of china will undermine your foreign influence, unless you can convert some Chinese to Judaism! The fact is time is running out, Israel can make fair peace from a position of strength or have peace forced on it.

Default-user-icon Danny B (Guest) 13 August 2011, 12:56

Ado, why dpn't you check and read the Hamas agenda, you will find that those whom you want Israel to let them in are still telling their own people that wherever you find a Jew you should kill him.
Remind me who declared Jihad on Jews during WW2? he was not a Jew then and Israel was not an independent country then.
Don't tell me what is the difference between Jew to Zionism as there is no difference.
Zionism is from the word Zion and we pray three times a day facing Jerusalem (Not Mecca) dreaming for our return to the promised land Which is Zion and not the Gas chambers of Auschwitz.
Don't tell me the stories that Palestinian are the real inhabitants of Zion.
As if you go back 100 years you will find out their real origin.
Would also suggest you to read the book of Marc Twain who visited Palestine in 19th century, he stated exactly how many Palestinians were in Palestine that time. its not a secret that most of them immigrated to Palestine to find food for their families.

Thumb benzona 13 August 2011, 17:35

Jews Had Christ killed, got Mohammed poisoned to death and finally had the tsar nicolai II and millions of Russians killed thanks to Lenin. But, only a bunch of people are behind this.... Not an entire community. Let's not say that all Shia are pro Hezbollah and so on. I know plenty of Jews that are against the state of Israel. But then again, people born there have gained some legitimacy and aren't responsible for their parents and grandparents' wars.

Thumb shab 14 August 2011, 04:00

The Maxx, not gonna happen Israel is here to stay. lets make peace. We want live, not fight. The Lebanese owe nothing to the Arabs, they owe us.
