Security forces on Thursday suspected the presence of a bomb in a car parked in the Bekaa border town of Arsal, which turned out to be stolen.

“The Arsal State Security department asked a military expert to inspect a black GMC Envoy SUV that was parked on the side of the road in Arsal's Wadi Hmayyed near the amusement park,” state-run National News Agency reported.

LBCI television later reported that “the suspicious car in Arsal's Wadi Hmayyed did not contain any explosives but it turned out to be stolen.”

On March 31, the army dismantled a booby-trapped Honda CRV containing around 200 kilograms of explosives in Wadi Hmayyed. Earlier that day, the Internal Security Forces announced that it had seized a number of stolen vehicles in a Syrian refugee camp in Arsal.
