A loud blast shook the neighborhood of Shiyyah in Beirut’s southern suburbs at dawn Monday, which the National News Agency said was the result of the explosion of a vehicle that suffered a technical malfunction.

Hizbullah and Amal members threw a security dragnet at the blast scene shortly after the explosion was heard at around 2:20 a.m., NNA said.

The agency said the explosion was the result of fire from a malfunction in the vehicle which it said was a 2003 model Mercedes-Benz license plate W283655.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The car owner was identified as Mohammad Jamil Jawad. He owns a car spare parts shop, NNA said.

Wow..... and their thug leader Qassem only yesterday accused Mustaqbal of being a milia...... ! Another mysterious explosion most probably related to personal financial issues...... ! Who authorized these thugs to carry weapons and "throw" a security dragnet? Where is the State Mr. Miqati???

It becomes familiar to hear about explosions here and there like if it should be a part of our daily life. What kind of state do they want? It is more than obvious that the state cannot coexist with such militias. Big time to make changes.

The Germans must be freaking out now. 2003 Mercs instantaniously blowing up due to malfunctions. I am sure Hizb was only protecting the germans from global lawsuits by hiding the evidence from the police and investigators.

Damit Hassan are you still on Tehran time this is the third bomb you make that explodes before it's supposed to!!!

If these explosions are innocent accidents, why is it always necessary for Hezbollah to "secure the area" I imagine from the ISF or the police from coming in and investigating? Why is that necessary if there is no political component to these explosions? Some one tell me that?

Its the same question that is begged by the government saying that Lee Harvey Oswald was a lone nut assassin who killed President Kennedy in 1963. Well, if that is true, then why do the investigative files have to be sealed and kept secret for 100 years? To protect Lee Harvey Oswald?

" It is a personal conflict over an allegators farm that led to the explosion of propane tank " ? ; thank you Mr. minister.
But, Amal and hezbollah thugs still think they should surround the explosion sight and not allow any investigation to take place.

Nothing to see here people, it was just a personal dispute it's ok. The story about this being a defect in the car is BS...when was the last time you saw a car spontaneously explode...Of course, however, the Hizb and Amal sheep will believe what their masters tell them...

Its a Zionist-US plot against Mercedes-Benz , by tarnishing their images of non reliable cars for assassination missions, it blows up before even beeing planted at the wanted site.

Qassem acxusses mustaqbal of being a militia, yet whenever shit happens in tripoli u don't see mustaqbal "dragnet" on the scene...hypocritical propaganda.

The car was probably supposed to explode near some judge or politician, but they screwed it up again.

a vehicle exploding due to a technical malfunction? are you serious?

Mowaten, can you please get more technical about this malfunction so the rest of us wouldn't worry about our cars suddenly blowing up?

had antelias blast happened in a hizb controlled area, i bet we would've heard it was only an overcharged cellphone that exploded.

this is getting ridiculous. it's as if hizb and amal are playing around betting on how much obvious their lies can get before their dumb followers notice.
