The Syrian army on Monday opened fire at two Lebanese citizens who were trying to cross into Syria via an illegal border crossing in northern Lebanon.

“Troops from the regular Syrian army opened fire at Khaled al-Mheimed and a man from the al-Ouwaishi family, who are both Lebanese from the Wadi Khaled region,” Lebanon's National News Agency reported.

It said they were trying to cross on a motorcycle into Syrian territory through the illegal al-Ouwaishat border crossing.

The two men were “critically wounded” by the Syrian gunshots, NNA said.

Lebanese Red Cross medics transferred them to the Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Qoubaiyat.

Ever since the Syrian crisis erupted in 2011, the largely uncontrolled border in Wadi Khaled has witnessed infiltration attempts by gunmen in both directions in addition to arms trafficking operations. Shells fired by the Syrian forces have also targeted the area.

Wadi Khalid, the locals there have land on both sides of border.
These people have always crossed the border repeadily on a daily basis for generations.
You never know, maybe it WAS milk and blankets.

Are you ever going to live in peace or pass peacefully on the Syrian roads without being kidnapped and beaten by the locals because you terrorized them in the claim of defending your shrine.
