Islamist Cleric Omar Bakri Arrested in Aley

Islamist cleric Omar Bakri was arrested on Sunday in the Mount Lebanon region of Aley, reported the National News Agency.
It said that the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau arrested the cleric in his residence, located in al-Basateen Street, at dawn on Sunday.
The apartment is owned by a man identified as Hamad Abou Latif.
Bakri is wanted by the army and security forces for his connection to the clashes that have taken place in recent years between the neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh in the northern city of Tripoli.
The army and security forces had adopted in recent months a security plan in Tripoli in order to crackdown on the various perpetrators linked to the unrest.
It resulted in the arrested of several suspects, including some of Bakri's associates.
Tensions between Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh go back decades but have been exacerbated by the war in Syria, where Alawite President Bashar Assad faces Sunni rebels seeking to topple him.
Successive rounds of violence between the neighborhoods have killed dozens of people and brought parts of the city to a standstill.

Bakri was quoted as saying that he does not directly manage terrorist groups, but rather he "plants the seeds and lets them grow".
This sneaky manipulator is a coward and a plague, good that he got arrested.

Catch of the day. I hope that Nasrallah wont be sending Nawwar Sahili once more to spring Bakri out of jail. After all if Bakri is indisposed serving time who would OTV use to scare the children.

Lunacy all around, chaos, order can only exist after chaos, I said it before, I fear for Lebanon in the next few months, the regional developments will be drastic, and of course since we love everyone so much and every Lebanese leader backs somebody somewhere we will feel the ramifications. At least now some people started to realize the absolute helplessness their leaders guided them into, and maybe they can see that what all entities against Lebanon want is for us to keep hating and insulting on each other.

This man is a criminal and a hate preacher, simple as that, it should make no difference to anybody here or elsewhere what religion he's from and what party he supports. Simple, you commit a crime, you do the time. And please, don't come at me with accusations of being naive and all that crap, I know it's not that clean or honest, I know there are political reasons, but it doesn't matter, it still feels good to see that every once in a while, justice does prevail, for a moment, every once in a while. That gives me hope.
