Former Premier Saad Hariri held talks with Saudi King Abdullah in Mecca on Tuesday morning to extend his Eid al-Fitr greetings to him, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

SPA said that the two men met at al-Safa palace after attending prayers at the Holy Mosque.

On Monday, Hariri extended his greetings to the Syrian people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, expressing his “full solidarity” with them against their regime’s violent crackdown on protestors.

Hariri also extended his greetings to the Lebanese people in general and Muslims in particular.

Hariri’s press office said in a statement later in the day that the former premier held telephone conversations with several Arab and Muslim heads of state and officials on the occasion of the Eid.

this is big...saudi royalty refuses to meet with the current prime minister najib mikati, but pray and hold talks with ex premier saad hariri....pretty clear message to mikati and sunni's in general that mikati has lost his legitmacy in the eyes of the sunni monarchs. this is what lebanon gets for letting hezbollah run shit via their weapons; complete and utter isolation and humiliation. cant wait for this disgrace of a divided single colored government to finally be toppled.

Snubbing the P.M. of lebanon by whoever is an insult to the whole of lebanon. The premiership is not to be claimed by the haririrs or others. The saudi Monarch is ill advised!! He is obliged to show some diplomacy and meet the current PM.

Many Lebanese have dual citizenships, that's a strength for Lebanon, so whoever tries to pick on Sheikh Saad for being a Saudi, they should ask their masters if they rather have a Saudi, USA, French and other western citizenships or IRANIAN and Syrian? Ya Hypocrites, look how many of us Lebanese live and prosper in the gulf states and the west. We should be thankful that we can support our families back home and our week economy...so I tell the people that say "Hariri is a wahabi" etc.. to think how many of us live in the KSA and make a living. I can't say the same for living in Syria or Iran.

Allouchi, the difference is that I as an Australian have duel citizenship yes... Because australia allows duel citizenship. However Saudi Arabia does not. So which is he, Saudi or Lebanese? He can't be both and I think he has yet to relinquish his Saudi citizenship. So the question is... Is he even Lebanese?

Secondly, a country like Australia does not interfere in Lebanese politics and as the pm of the republic of Lebanon, he should have no other citizenship or loyalty to any other country and should renounce his Saudi citizenship. which other president or prime minister apart from his father was a citizen to any other nation?

Does this King Abdullah support a non-confessional electoral scheme for Lebanon?

@ado.australia:

Your hatred for Harriri has never been clearly justified to me or to others. Is this all you can find to criticize the man? Maybe, you should focus on your australian nationality and stop interfering in Lebanese affairs.

As significant as if Omar Khorshid held talks with Rushdie Abaza ! Or if Faten El Hamama held talks with Um Kulthum !

in Mecca? who is his travel agent?

@ ado.australia, I am not sure where are you getting you information from!? but Saad Hariri was born on the 18th of April 1970. He holds a dual nationality, Lebanese and Saudi. Many of our politicians and I dare to say a substantial percentage hold dual citizenships (or at least a green card like Berri) nothing wrong with that but you seem to say that ONLY Hariri loyalties are an issue to you and other M8 followers and no one else!!! you are VERY wrong in your assumptions, please get the actual facts before stating facts.

You can have multiple citizenship, but your other citizenship are not recognized within KSA!

Honestly, I've been disappointed with Hariri's lack of charisma when he was PM. I think I'm not the only one, but not way in hell will I shift to the evil (axis) opposition. However, our country is in deadlock and it's hard to live a decent life in this country, especially for the youth.

Since we are at it so let us do the REAL comparison for Lebanon as our Country:
Saudia send us Rice and Money to build Bridges/Power plants after the Zionists destroy them by their Air force due to kidnapping of their soldiers.
Iran encourages terror by paying the terrorist families after they blow up cars and kill politicians.
Let's say I am wrong with the above, Why would you hold the Citizenship of Iran so that you can travel and enjoy the freedom of living and prosper between Iran/Syria/North Korea? On the other side holding a KSA Passport enables you to travel anywhere and make a living anywhere if you can get it.
