Kataeb party ministers will propose during an extraordinary cabinet session on Monday a request to extend the mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon to include the country's eastern border.

“Lebanon should seek the U.N. approval to include Lebanon's eastern border with Syrian in Security Council resolution 1701,” An Nahar newspaper reported.

Labor Minister Sejaan Qazzi, who is loyal to Kataeb party, expressed surprise over “the involvement of Syrian refugees in battles in Arsal against the Lebanese army.”

He called on the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to reconsider its policies regarding the displaced Syrians as long as they are armed.

The March 14 alliance continuously called on the state to allow the UNIFIL to deploy along the the Lebanese-Syrian border in accordance with resolution 1701.

Later, Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea expressed complete support to the Lebanese army.

He rejected any bargain with armed men, calling on the state to expand resolution 1701 to include all Lebanese territories.

Resolution 1701, which ended the Hizbullah-Israel war in 2006, expanded the mandate of U.N. troops in the South, which was originally formed in 1978 after the outbreak of Lebanon's 1975-1990 civil war.

Why are we always looking for others to solve our problems? Any country facing the same challenges that Lebanon faces would institute a draft and a national reserve. Why is this so hard to comprehend? Are we willing to protect our country and our freedom or not?

that would be true in a country where its own security forces are the sole militarized forces, and not having a foreign controlled entity that is more powerful than the state.
that would be true if that foreign controlled entity did not wage war against the people of Syria, thus bringing back retaliatory actions.
why are we supposed to bear the burden of what hizbushaitan did in Syria?
why is our army being put in a dangerous situation to defend hizbushaitan actions in Syria?
is there anything in the Lebanese state that is not being destroyed by hizbushaitan actions?
our army is being killed in retaliation for what hizbushaitan is doing in Syria!!!!

Good luck to the Kataeb. they will soon notice that hizbushaitan will refuse the idea of deploying the UN on our Syrian border. why? because they want our soldiers and army to be destroyed totally so they are the only force on the ground.

Southern - and part of being a sovereign nation is not to allow any militia mascarading under any cover.

The army needs to deploy more forces, plain and simple. You can't expect one unit of soldiers to battle jihadists. We don't need the UN to come in. This is fighting in one town, the army needs to squash these lunatics whether they need 50 troops or 10,000.

And the geniuses of the 5-member Kataeb party forgot to add ASAP after the word DEPLOYMENT. I don't know how this trivial yet important expression might have slipped the mind of the biggie in size and loud-mouthiness Elie Marouni. wa qad iqtada al tawdi7
