The Interior Ministry issued on Thursday a decree calling on candidates seeking to run in the 2014 parliamentary elections to submit their nominations.

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq issued a decree to hold the elections on November 16.

Candidates may begin submitting their nominations starting on Thursday, he added.

The deadline for submissions falls on September 16.

Those wishing to withdraw from the race can do so before October 1.

On August 19, the cabinet had called on electoral bodies to take the necessary preparations to stage the polls.

In May 2013, the majority of the parliamentary blocs had voted to extend the term of parliament due to the security situation in Lebanon and their failure to reach an agreement over an electoral law.

Anyone over 65 shouldn't run.
