Efforts are underway between officials from the rival March 8 and 14 camps in order to hold a legislative session next week to tackle pending issues, reported the daily An Nahar on Saturday.

The efforts are focusing on means to resolve the dispute over the new wage scale, as well as issuing Eurobonds and tackling budget-related affairs.

The contacts are being held between the adviser of the Mustaqbal Movement leader, Nader al-Hariri, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, Health Minister Wael Abou Faour, and Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan.

Adwan is expected to hold talks in the next 48 hours with Speaker Nabih Berri in order to tackle this issue, revealed An Nahar.

He will also propose necessary amendments to the parliamentary electoral law, it added.

He described the contacts as being “open to all positive possibilities.”

Adwan had held a meeting with Berri on Tuesday after which he announced the LF's readiness to take part in legislative sessions aimed at addressing pressing issues.

Parliament has not been convening over a lack of quorum at legislative sessions sparked by a boycott of blocs that believe that parliament should only play an electoral role in light of the ongoing presidential vacuum.

Among the blocs has been that of the Mustaqbal that has rejected the new wage scale draft law over the burdens its approval may have on the economy.

Report: Contacts Underway to Hold Legislative Session next Week.......

How impressive. THis is how low we sunk as a nation. Forget about the armed thugs roaming our cities of all nationalities, forget the lack of necessary basic needs of our citizens (electricity, water, roads, rule of law, respecting the constitution and the Democratic process and holding elections on time, jobs, .,.. and you name it). If this was truly a nation, those thugs should be in jail without pay and disqualified from running for elections again.
