Report: Al-Nusra Front Holding Captives in 2-Story House

The al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front is holding the captives from the Lebanese army and police at a two-story house on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Monday.

The house lies near the so-called al-Nour encampment for Syrian refugees, the daily said.

The same house had been used by jihadists to hold foreign journalists, who were kidnapped in Syria and later released in return for ransom, al-Akhbar added.

The report did not say where the Islamic State group was keeping its captives.

It came a day after al-Mustaqbal newspaper said that the soldiers and members of the Internal Security Forces abducted by the IS are held in a cave in Wadi al-Rahwa while the ones taken captive by al-Nusra Front are present in Wadi Mira.

The two caves lie on Arsal's outskirts.

The troops and policemen were kidnapped after the jihadists overran Arsal in August. They later killed three of them and warned they would murder more captives if the Lebanese authorities did not meet their demands.

As Safir daily quoted informed officials as saying that the army killed over over the weekend more than 50 terrorists on Arsal's outskirts.

It also carried out a series of arrests in encampments in the area, capturing around 140 people, most of them Syrians.

Thirty-five of them admitted to participating in the fighting against the army or plotting for terrorist activities against the military, the officials said.

Why in heavens name would any Lebanese media outlet telegraph information like this, true or not? Al-Akhbar is not exactly the BBC so one can't help but wonder why a HA mouth piece will publish such news. Is it because HA is desperate and is trying to suck our LAF into a battle they are not yet ready for? Or maybe sabotage one that may be in the works by uncovering the hostage soldiers location?
Very fishy and shameful reporting by Al-Akhbar, then again what can one expect from a HA mouth piece.

Thumb lebnanfirst 22 September 2014, 09:21

Was it not Al-Akhbar that published the names of the secret STL witnesses with utter disregard to their safety and well being. قرطة منحطّين

After re-reading the article I realized that I was not aware that Future media also published news about our hostage soldiers location. More shame on them as well.

Welcome back @coolmec. Misery loves company or so the saying goes. Hope you enjoy yourself. Some tips for you though you may already know them, Amer Bouhsali at Riad Solh square has, IMHO, the best ma'amoul in town while Amal Bouhsali a few blocks away has the best knaffeh. We still have the best sweets at least.

If you are referring to our dialogue under the HA operatives that died in a blast, then I already responded to it.
Always a joy to converse with a fellow Lebanese like yourself.

We should start killing the Islamist inmates in Roumieh until they release our soldiers. They behead our soldiers and we are negotiating and most disgusting, the moderators on Naharnet and other idiots on here are supporters of these terrorists.
